Hi there!
Welcome back for the first Papertrey Group Post this month! Today, we're introducing you to Bountiful Banners, a darling new stamp set designed by Maile Belles. Nichole challenged each of the design team members to create a card inspired by a photo found on Pinterest or the like, and to utilize the new Bountiful Banners stamp set in conjunction with another set of our choosing, on the same project. So I chose to pair Bountiful Banners with my Cutting Garden set and here is the photo I chose to use as inspiration....
Here is the card I created....
I started out with a rustic cream card base and added a strip of melon berry bitty dot paper that was die cut with the wine bottle tag die.
SIDE NOTE: If you don't have the wine bottle tag die because you don't think you'd ever make a wine bottle tag with it, you're missing out. For the record, I've never made a wine bottle tag with it and yet I use it all the darn time!! It's such a great 'flag' shape....I love it. END SIDE NOTE. Haha!
I die cut a couple of flowers and leaves using the Cutting Garden dies and then stamped them with coordinating images from the Cutting Garden stamp set. For the flowers, I inked them with melon berry ink first and then used the pointed end of the ink pad to just ink the centers of the flowers with berry sorbet ink. It's super fast and easy, and yet because of the shape of the flowers in conjunction with the shape of the ink pads, you can utilize two different colors on these flowers beautifully!
Lastly, I die cut one of the Bountiful Banners as well as a little cirle and then stamped them with images from the Bountiful Banners stamp set. The banner was stamped with melon berry ink and the sentiment and heart circle were stamped with dark chocolate ink.
Next, I have a few Boutique Borders: Birthday cards to share with you!
To get started, I used a hibiscus burst card base and then die cut some rustic cream and kraft squares using the limitless layers: squares dies. The cream layer was stamped with Background Basics: Newsprint using smokey shadow ink that was stamped off on scratch paper once first. On top of the squares, I added some more Cutting Garden flowers and leaves using hibiscus burst, summer sunrise and ripe avocado inks.
Above and below the squares, I stamped one half of the frame from Boutique Borders: Birthday using hibiscus burst ink and then below the bottom one, I stamped a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday using (stamped off) smokey shadow ink.
Did you know you can also create beautiful background patterns with Boutique Borders: Birthday?!?! I stamped a row of the frames and then another, this time placing the bottom half of the frame in between the two halves on the previous row. That sounds confusing, but basically you stamp the bottom half of the frames inside the previous frames and then you start all over again. Stamp a row. Then stamp the bottom half of the next row inside the previous row, with the top half landing above the previous row. You're just interlocking the frames over and over.
I stamped the frames in dark chocolate ink on a rustic cream card stock panel and then adhered the whole panel to a rustic cream card base.
The dark chocolate sentiment strip was die cut with a new die that Nichole will be telling you more about tomorrow! ;) The sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday was stamped with versamark ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. A threaded dark chocolate button finished things off.
One more for today! Did you know that you can also create a square frame with the 'frame' from Boutique Borders: Birthday?!! It's super easy to do, particularly because of the straight lines in the frame image! Just ink up the top half only and stamp it along the top of the card stock, lining up the lines on the image with the top edge of the card stock. Then, using those same lines as a guide, turn the card stock sideways and stamp again. Next, stamp the other side in the same manner and lastly, turn the card stock around and stamp the bottom, connecting the sides of the box!
Another beautiful thing about this little trick, is that the square from the Limitless Layers: Square dies, fits perfectly inside!! For all three sentiments on this card, I pulled out the Stylish Sentiments: Birthday stamp set. Such a simple card and yet I think it packs quite a little punch! :)
All righty then, be sure to visit all of the other girls on the design team today, to see their Bountiful Banners projects!
