Hello there!
So, last year, Bartley and I went on a vacation to San Diego and I never got around to sharing photos from our trip here. However after planting a hibiscus in our yard a couple weeks ago, I haven't been able to stop thinking about a certain hibiscus that we saw at the San Diego Zoo last year. So I grabbed my iPhone, found the pictures of that amazing hibiscus and Bartley and I began searching online for this beauty. Turns out, it's called the Rainbow Christie hibiscus and I am on. the. hunt. for one!! I would love, LOVE to have one of these, though I think we'll have to pot it rather than plant it in the yard, so we can bring it in, in the winter. I think our winter would be way too harsh for this lovely.
But isn't she gorgeous? Have you ever seen one of these in real life? Or perhaps you actually have one?? (If so, where did you buy it?!) The blooms are around TEN INCHES across! Huge! And spectacular!
So far, we haven't found anywhere that's selling them though we've got an inquiry in to one website who apparently does sell them at certain times during the year.
Have you ever seen a plant that was just so beautiful that the memory of it stuck with you for a really long time? This is that plant for me. I pulled out the memory card of the Nikon photos of our trip this morning and was so happy to see these pictures.....I couldn't wait to share them with you!
I'm working on editing more of our San Diego trip photos, and will try to share more when I can. But I hope that for today, you enjoy this Rainbow Christie feast for the eyes!
