Hi! Welcome back for day 2 of the Papertrey Countdown! I'm thrilled to hear that so many of you are excited about the newest addition to the Boutique Borders collection!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on June 15 at 10pm EST.
I had a lot of fun creating this card. Firstly, let's talk about the fun turquoise element below the flowers! Do you recognize that die cut -- it's from the Fabulous Frames collection and I'm happy to report that half of the frame from Boutique Borders: Thanks is a beautiful fit on that die cut!! I stamped in hawaiian shores ink on hawaiian shores card stock.
So then I die cut and stamped flowers and leaves from Happiness in Bloom -- yes, I said LEAVES too!!! (See Nichole's blog for lots more info about those dies!) All of the leaves were stamped with simply chartreuse ink and the detail layer is all ripe avocado. But notice how I changed it up on each leaf? Some are stamped detailing and some are die cut detailing!
As for the flowers, they were die cut from rustic cream card stock and stamped with hawaiian shores, ripe avocado and dark chocolate inks. Topping each flower is a simply chartreuse button threaded with rustic jute button twine.
As for the cute little sentiment banner, that was die cut with the double-ended banner die and stamped with another of the sentiments from Boutique Borders: Thanks! A PERFECT fit!! Ahhh.....I love it when that happens!
Next, I have a really ornate frame to show you today and I created the whole thing with the frame from Boutique Borders: Thanks! Here's how I did it....
I started off by stamping only half of the frame using hawaiian shores ink. For this look, you're only going to stamp HALF of the frame each time. Because the two sections of the frame are separate and there's space in between for the sentiment, it's SUPER easy to just ink half and stamp.
Next, I stamped half again, this time turning it around so that the lines are facing each other. Notice that I overlapped the point in the middle. Between the point in the center and the straight lines, these are really easy to line up!
Side note: That's a really pretty image already, isn't it?!
Next, I stamped two sides, with the lines facing out. I used the points of the lines on the first stamped section and the sides of the card stock to line things up.
Stamp two more times at the bottom, repeating exactly what I did at the top and closing off the frame.
Side note: I LOVE the way this looks right now and you could certainly stop right here! I think it's so pretty that I did just that and I'll show you that on the next card. But for now, let's go ahead and finish up the sides.
Two more times -- this time with the lines on the inside and the points overlapping again, just like we did at the top and the bottom. It might seem like it could be tricky, but once you start stamping, you'll see how easy it is. And that's why I showed you so many step-by-step photos, so you could whip out your own ornate frame in no time!
Essentially, you're stamping only half of the frame, 8 times. :)
To the center of the frame, I added some Rosie Posie flowers and leaves. The flowers were stamped with hawaiian shores ink and then the shading images from Rosie Posie 2 were added with ripe avocado ink. The leaves and shading were all stamped with ripe avocado ink.
Along the bottom of the card, I added strips of simply chartreuse and ripe avocado card stock. On the chartreuse strip, I stamped one of the sentiments from Boutique Borders: Thanks and then finished things off by adding a few sequins.
One more for today.....notice the summer sunrise frame? I told you I created another frame just like the one on the previous card, only this time, I left off those two side sections. So this time I only stamped HALF of the Boutique Borders: Thanks frame 6 times. I sooo love how this looks!
I inked the edges of the rustic cream card stock with vintage touch tea dye. You might be noticing those cute little bees, huh? Those were stamped using the previously released Honey Bees stamp set and and they were die cut with new dies!! (See Nichole's blog for more details about these too!!) I topped my little bees with gems from Studio Calico.
And every cute bee deserves a bit of honeycomb, wouldn't you say? I ran the card base through my vagabond with the Cover Plate: Hexagons die, only I used the same sandwich I would use for an impression plate. The result is this really detailed impressed background, rather than a die cut background. So cool!
That about wraps it up for me today, but I hope you'll stop back by tomorrow for lots more Boutique Borders: Thanks inspiration!!
For today, you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady & Heather Nichols for lots more sneaks, plus Danielle Flanders is showcasing Boutique Borders: Thanks today so don't miss that!! Maile Belles and Melissa Bickford will also have peeks at their new sets.
Have a fabulous day!
