Hi again! It's day 3 of the Papertrey June Countdown and I'm excited to show you some more of Boutique Borders: Thanks in action!!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on June 15 at 10pm EST.
Ahhh....this first card makes me so happy! So we should probably talk about that background first, huh? It's a new Cover Plate that you'll have to read more about over at Nichole Heady's blog! But I used it as an impression plate, and ran the card base through my Vagabond using the same sandwich I would for an impression plate, only with the cover plate die instead. I love how it looks almost quilted!
You're also getting your first peek here, at what Boutique Borders: Thanks looks like when die cut!! I die cut rustic cream card stock and then stamped the frame with simply chartreuse ink followed by the sentiment (also from Boutique Borders: Thanks) using aqua mist ink. Notice though, that I scooched the sentiment over to the right. That was to allow room for the stems on the left. They're so thin, that by anchoring them on a larger surface, still allows me to use foam adhesive behind the flowers, without risking the stems getting bent or damaged in any way. I just used a little liquid adhesive to glue them in place. The flowers, leaves and stems were all created with the Daydreamer stamps and dies.
Side note: Don't you just love how well the Boutique Borders series works with soooo many previously released stamp sets you may already have in your collection?! They're super versatile!
And speaking of previously released sets, here's an oldie but goodie!! I know a lot of you have the Damask Designs stamp set -- my very first stamp set ever released! I decided to pull it out and put it to use again on this birthday card!
First, let's talk about that extra long Boutique Borders: Thanks die cut, shall we?
I started out with a panel of rustic cream card stock and put the Boutique Borders: Thanks die in the upper left corner and ran it through my Vagabond, but only part way! I got down so that I could see just when the die actually ran under the roller bar in the Vagabond and then stopped, so that just the top detail portion of the die was cut.
Then, I stamped one half of the frame, followed by this long sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday! Next, I used a ruler and a pencil and drew light lines on either side of the sentiment, using the bit of die cut lines at the top as my guide.
Next, I turned the card stock around, lined up the die again using those pencil lines as a guide and ran it through my Vagabond, repeating the same process as the first time. So again, only one decorative edge of the die was actually cut.
Then, I simply used my ruler and x-acto knife to cut the straight edges on either side, following my pencil lines.
And this is the result....an extra long die cut!! I love how this looks!
I included a bit of space just below the sentiment where I added a couple strips of paper and then topped them with an adhesive gem.
The new leaf background was stamped with Damask Designs and versamark ink.
One more for you today.....for this one, I pulled out some vintage sheet music and die cut the tag. Because the sheet music paper is so thin, I also cut another tag from rustic cream card stock, to layer behind the sheet music to give it a bit more stability.
I stamped the tag with flowers and leaves from Cutting Garden and topped the largest flower with glitter. On the side of the tag, I stamped half of the Boutique Borders: Thanks frame, using winter wisteria ink on winter wisteria card stock.
I also stamped a sentiment from Boutique Borders: Thanks in the corner and then ran the whole card base through my Vagabond with the Aida impression plate. I love the texture that plate adds!
All righty, Crew, that's it for me today, but of course, I'll be back tomorrow with lots more to share! I hope you'll join me!
For today, you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady, Maile Belles and Jessica Witty for lots more sneak peeks. Heather Nichols and Melissa Bickford will have peeks at their new sets as well.
