Hello there! It's time for the Papertrey June Countdown and this month, I'm thrilled to introduce you to Boutique Borders: Thanks....the next installment in my Boutique Borders series!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on June 15 at 10pm EST.
I think you'll love the versatility of not only this beautiful frame, but also the thank you sentiments included! Thank you cards are one of the most popular cards to make, so I'm happy to be bringing you a few fresh and new sentiments to work with this month! And of course, with the $5 price tag AND a coordinating die available, you'll definitely want to add this one to your collection!
As for this first card, I wanted to create some really bold navy stripes for the background and this was easily achieved with strips of card stock! I started with a rustic cream card base and added wide strips of enchanted evening card stock. But then I wanted to jazz it up a little more, so I pulled out my sampler pack of shimmer card stock and added some thin strips of gold shimmer to the background, just above each navy stripe.
In the cream space at the bottom of the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from Boutique Borders: Thanks and then stamped half of the frame from Boutique Borders: Thanks -- once above the sentiment on the navy stripe and once below the sentiment on the other navy stripe. I love that you can easily place the two sections of this frame anywhere you need them to go, giving you the ability to create much larger or even smaller frames! I'll be showing you several variations in the next few days!
To finish off the card, I added some flowers and leaves from The Sweet Life. The flowers were stamped with raspberry fizz on the bottom layer (stamped off once to lighten it up), raspberry fizz on the middle layer and pure poppy on top. The leaves were stamped with harvest gold on the bottom layer and summer sunrise on top. I wanted the leaves to help tie in the gold strips of card stock.
Next up is a fun little flower I thought I'd show you how to make! Can you tell what it's made out of????
One of the most popular elements from my newly released Ruby Rose stamp set, is the leaves! But did you know that you can use the leaves to make a FLOWER?!
I started out by die cutting and stamping 7 of the large single leaf images from Ruby Rose. I stamped each one in berry sorbet ink and then used my paper piercer to poke a hold toward the bottom tip of each leaf.
Then, I secured them all together with a brad. When you fan them out, you get a flower!
Topping the flower is another flower from Ruby Rose and on top of that is a gem from Studio Calico. Behind the flower are a few more leaves, and the whole thing is layered on some sea shimmer card stock that was die cut with a limitless layers: 2 1/2" circle die.
Below the focal point, I stamped another sentiment from Boutique Borders: Thanks and below that, simply stamped only half of the frame for a bit of a decorative element.
One more for today.....this one was FUN to make and quite honestly, was really pretty fast too! I started out with a stamper's select white card base and on it, I stamped the "Thanks so much" sentiment from Table Service using versamark ink. I then heat embossed it with CLEAR embossing powder. Obviously clear embossing powder on white card stock means that the sentiment is pretty invisible. ;) Then, I followed up by stamping only half of the frame from Boutique Borders: Thanks again, only this time, I stamped it that way three times, creating a border. Again, I stamped with versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
And then for the fun part! I added a few drops of three different ink refills (plum pudding, raspberry fizz and melon berry) to a clean paint palette. Then I used those refills along with some water to watercolor a "wash" over the stamped images. The embossing resists the color so all of a sudden, what was invisible, is suddenly VERY visible! When I was done, I simply wiped off the embossing to remove any water or residue. Fast, easy, FUN and really pretty!! You should try this technique!
All right, I'm off for now, but I'll be back tomorrow with lots more to share so I hope you'll join me! What do you think of Boutique Borders: Thanks so far?
Be sure to visit Nichole Heady & Betsy Veldman for lots more sneak peeks. Heather Nichols, Maile Belles and Melissa Bickford will have peeks at their new sets as well.
Take care,
