Hi there! It's the first of JUNE if you can believe it, and that means it's time for another Senior Design Team challenge at Papertrey Ink! This month, Nichole asked us to pull out our Take Note stamp sets and create a card and notepad with this set. I hadn't stamped with Take Note in quite awhile so it was a fun little assignment. And I fell in love all over again with the teeny flourishy-leaf images in the set. Sometimes it's the smallest, most seemingly inconsequential images that can create the most gorgeous backgrounds! I love how vintage-y this background looks!
And of course, I had to create both projects to color coordinate because that's just fun! Ha.
Let's talk about the card first. I started out by stamping that teeny leaf image on the rustic cream card stock to create my background. I stamped a row with the leaf pointing to one side and then stamped the next row with it pointing the other direction, alternating the direction of the stamp on each row.
I used the limitless layers: 1 3/4" circle dies for the focal point, stamping the border, bracket and "This & That", all from Take Note. Behind the focal point, I die cut and stamped some leaves using the Turning a New Leaf die collection and the Embroidered Blooms stamp set with hawaiian shores and aqua mist inks. I die cut the largest leaf cluster from that collection and just tore it apart to use pieces of the leaves in various places.
And lastly, I stamped the "hello" from Embroidered Blooms on the berry sorbet layer to finish off the card's sentiment. I inked the edges of each layer with vintage touch tea dye ink.
Now for the notebook, I started out with two of Papertrey's notepads (I like my notebook to be a bit thicker) and a sheet of card stock that was cut to 8 1/8" by a smidge over 5 1/2". Then, I scored it at a smidge over 2 1/2", turned it around and scored it again, at a smidge over 2 1/2" from the other side. The smidge over is just what looked good to me when I eyeballed how snugly the notepads would fit. Those score lines, when folded, serve as the spine for my notebook.
I used scor-tape to adhere the two notepads together and then both of them, to the inside of the notebook cover.
Before putting the notepads in, I stamped the same background pattern all over the hawaiian shores layer and then stitched a strip of berry sorbet card stock to the front. The notch in the berry sorbet strip was hand cut.
I used the limitless layers: 1 3/4" circle dies again and stamped the same border and sentiment from Take Note as I used on the card. A button tops the stitching for a finishing touch. I like to keep my notebooks fairly flat on the front so that things don't get knocked off when it's being used, so no foam adhesive here. Everything was secured with regular adhesive.
Be sure to visit each of the other girls to check out their Take Note projects!
