Hi there!
It's time for the first of the Papertrey Group Posts this month! Today, we've got a lot of fun goodies to share with you featuring a darling new stamp set called Latte Love, designed by Nichole Heady as well as the Coffee Cozy die collection designed by Erin Lincoln! And all of this is here, just in time for darling fallish coffee gifts! Each of the design team members have put together just such a gift to share with you today!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on August 15 at 10pm EST.
I thought I'd show you how I made the coffee cozy first. It's not hard at all, but I took a lot of pictures, so you could see it all step by step. The photo above is all of the pieces I started out with. The new Coffee Cozy dies were used to cut out the two aqua mist felt pieces. The Coffee Cozy Details dies were used to cut out the hearts and the tiny heart tag. I also die cut a strip of dark chocolate felt with the small scalloped border die.
The first thing I did was machine stitch the two coffee cozy pieces together with the tiny heart tag sandwiched in between. Um. How cute is that tag?! Gah. I think it's my favorite part of this cozy!! :)
Next, I pinned the scalloped strip in place since the bottom edge of the cozy is curved a bit.
And then I stitched the scallops in place and trimmed off the edges.
Now, for the other end of the cozy, I decided to add a bit of velcro, so that the cozy can be slightly adjustable. I will tell you that after I stuck the self-adhesive velcro pieces in place, I was worried that the adhesive wouldn't hold well enough on the felt. So I also attempted to stitch them in place. It worked ok on the first side, but that adhesive that I was worried about not sticking, stuck all over the needle on my sewing machine! Haha! So stitch the velcro in place at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you! ;)
Lastly, I hand-stitched the two hearts in place on the front, by stitching a button on top. I also added a smidge of liquid glue behind each heart to help hold them in place.
Seriously, that little heart tag......
So next, I created a card using the new Latte Love stamp set, to go along with my coffee gift.
I used the rustic burlap impression plate on the kraft card stock layer. The tag sale #6 die was used to cut out the aqua mist bitty dot paper and then I stamped the cute mug image from Latte Love in dark chocolate ink. I also stitched another of those darling heart tags to the side of the aqua tag and I used the little die cut heart from the center of the tiny tag, on the top mug! The "certified coffee drinker" label from Latte Love was stamped and punched out with a circle punch.
Before using the impression plate on the background, I stamped it with a few of the sentiment building pieces from Latte Love. So cute!
And to go along with the coffee cozy, I packaged up some of my favorite coffee and made a cute gift tag to go with it! I put the bag of ground coffee in one of Papertrey's window coffee bags (see the photo at the top of this post for the full view) and the nice thing is the name of the coffee shows through the window, but the top of the coffee bag is hidden inside the kraft bag. The colors on the top of the coffee bag did NOT coordinate with my color scheme, so I simply "hid" that part of the bag, so that the whole gift looks very color coordinated!
On the tag, I again used the tag sale #6 die and added another tiny tag, as well as the "certified coffee drinker" label. But I also added the cutie-pie mug from my Candy Cane Christmas stamp set!! How fun is that? And along the bottom of the tag, I stamped more sentiment components from Latte Love.
Next up, I have a colorful Mum's the Word card to share with you! The new leaf card base was impressed with the cane print impression plate and I stamped the sentiment from Mum's the Word at the top of the card using smokey shadow ink.
Each of the flowers and the leaves were inked up and then spritzed with water before they were stamped on the card stock. I love the effect of watercolor this gives! The flowers from Mum's the Word were stamped with raspberry fizz, winter wisteria, pure poppy and orange zest inks.
Next up, I couldn't resist busting out my Delightful Dahlia Additions set again, and this time I paired it with Boutique Borders: Sympathy to make a really pretty sympathy card.
SIDE NOTE: Have you noticed how the Boutique Borders: Sympathy frame can be stamped right side up or upside down and it looks gorgeous either way?! For this card, I put the more flat side at the top and I love how that looks!
For the flowers, I stamped them in aqua mist, hawaiian shores and new leaf inks. The leaves were stamped with new leaf ink (all three layers) that was stamped off on scratch paper each time, before stamping here. The frame was stamped in new leaf ink while the sentiments -- that's two separate stamps, both from Boutique Borders: Sympathy -- were stamped in smokey shadow ink to coordinate with the bitty dot paper at the bottom as well as the music notes on the vintage sheet music.
Another thing to note about this particular sentiment combo, is that it doesn't have to be just for a sympathy card. This could apply to anyone that you're praying for and reaching out to. Anyone that's going through a rough time, perhaps someone who's ill or who's just having a tough go at the moment, could easily be sent a card like this. I love sentiments that are versatile and give you more bang for your crafting buck.
One more for today....this time, a fallish Halloween card!
I stamped the mums from Mum's the Word in canyon clay ink and the leaves in aqua mist. In case you couldn't tell by now, I'm not a huge fan of traditional Halloween colors, so I'm always looking to come up with alternative color combos that still feel like fall, but aren't necessarily so, shall we say "loud" (ie; green/purple/orange). Haha.
For the sentiment, I stamped one from Trick or Treat in dark chocolate ink and then masked off on either side of it before stamping half of the Boutique Borders: Sympathy frame just underneath. I didn't want the frame portion to be much wider than the sentiment. Then, just over the frame bit, I added a strip of dark chocolate card stock to really draw the eye to the sentiment.
All righty, my friends, that's all I've got for you today, but I hope you've enjoyed at least some of the projects I've shared!
