Helloooo!
Time for the second Papertrey Group Post this month! Today, the whole team is sharing projects featuring a gorgeous new stamp set and cover plate die, designed by Nichole Heady, called Mighty Oak. I think you'll soon see that there's a lot more to this new stamp set than meets the eye!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on August 15 at 10pm EST.
Nichole challenged each of us to choose a photo or two from Pinterest or the like, to use as inspiration for our projects today. I love the photo below, and used it as the inspiration for both of my Mighty Oak cards. I love the colors, the plaid here and there, and all the texture. It has such a warm and cozy feel and that's what I was going for with my cards!
For my first card, I used the Mighty Oak cover plate die to cut out all of the pieces from a piece of rustic cream card stock. Then I stamped all of the leaves and the trunk and popped them right back in the holes and adhered the whole thing to a rustic cream card front. The sentiment is also from Mighty Oak -- the sentiments are a perfect fit in the bottom right hand corner of the card.
Um also? I love that sentiment! Fall in general, speaks bliss to me. :)
Just a little close up of all the leaves popped back in their spaces.
So next, I decided to use one of the leaves from Mighty Oak to create a flower/medallion type background pattern.
I started by stamping a leaf straight up and down, and then stamped two more on either side of the first. Then, I repeated that, only this time upside down. Then I did another entire half medallion above and below the first and then filled in with medallions on the sides to complete the background.
The sentiment is one from Delightful Dahlia Additions. Just above the sentiment, I added a strip of dark chocolate card stock and some pure poppy bitty dot paper. A simple rustic jute button twine bow finished things off, and added some texture, as inspired by the Pinterest photo.
Before I go today, you know I couldn't forget to show you a few more cards using my Raspberry Suite new releases, right? ;) First up, Mum's the Word.
I stamped a couple leaves and a sentiment from Mum's the Word on a strip of rustic cream card stock and tucked a strip of simply chartreuse card stock just below it, that was die cut with the heart border die.
As for the background, I stamped more Mum's the Word leaves directly on a piece of worn and yellowed, vintage sheet music, using simply chartreuse ink. Next I die cut and stamped the mums using hawaiian shores ink and then I inked the edges with vintage touch tea dye ink to help them blend with the sheet music a bit.
Here, I started out with a panel of simply chartreuse card stock here, and stamped the Boutique Borders: Sympathy frame using ripe avocado ink, stamping half of the frame up toward the top of the panel, and the other half toward the bottom. Next, I stamped the sentiment from Boutique Borders: Birthday, using simply chartreuse ink, as well as a few Mum's the Word leaves.
Lastly, I used limeade ice and simply chartreuse inks to stamp some die-cut mums, which were popped up on the chartreuse layer with foam adhesive. And then the entire panel was adhered to a rustic cream card base with more foam adhesive.
One more for you today....we couldn't forget about Trick or Treat, now could we?! I used the pillow box die, to cut out a kraft pillow box that I wrapped with some canyon clay patterned paper and some dark chocolate twill ribbon. Next, I die cut a tag sale #5 tag and stamped it with a flourish from Holiday Photo Finishers in the upper left corner. I also layered on some aqua mist patterned paper and a couple strips of dark chocolate and kraft card stock.
The sentiment from Trick or Treat was stamped on the bottom of the tag with canyon clay ink and to top it all off, I die cut and stamped the adorable chocolate bar from Foodie Fun!! Seriously, how cute is that?! This little box will be so fun to fill with candy and give to someone special for Halloween!
Well, that's it for me today! I hope you've enjoyed today's projects! Don't forget to check out the rest of the team's Mighty Oak projects!
