If you're participating in Papertrey's Stamp-a-Faire event today, it's now time for the Mixing Mists to Match challenge, where we create our own spray mists!
You'd be surprised how simple it is to whip up your own spray mist and goodness, it opens up a world of possibilities having your custom Papertrey colors in spray mist form too! I made some spray mist and used it in a couple different ways on this card -- both sprayed and splattered! And the best part is, I made the mist with just a mini spray bottle, some ink refill and water! Doesn't get much easier than that! Haha.
I took my little Maya Road spray bottle and filled it about half full of water and then just added drops of plum pudding mist until the color was dark enough to suit me (maybe 10 or 20 drops?). I spritzed it on some scratch paper just to be sure, added a couple more drops and was good to go! I shook the bottle before each use just to make sure the color didn't separate. In the above photo, you can see the mat stack 4 die cut that I misted with my spray. I just sprayed it all over the white die cut. And then you can also see the card front where I splattered it with the mist. Simply unscrew the top and pull the whole thing off the bottle. Flick the hose end at your card stock and you'll get these fun splatters.
And here it is all put together! I used the first place dies to cut out the little bitty dot flags in the back. The flowers and leaves were stamped with Happiness in Bloom and die cut with the Beautiful Blooms II and Happiness in Bloom Leaves dies. I stamped the flowers with winter wisteria topped with plum pudding ink and the leaves were stamped with simply chartreuse topped with ripe avocado ink. A couple of lavendar moon buttons finished things off.
And that cutie sentiment at the bottom is from my Signature Greetings II stamp set! I stamped it in plum pudding ink.
Hope you have fun with this challenge! Be sure to head to Nichole Heady's blog to play along! Remember there's another fabulous prize for the winner of this Stamp-a-Faire challenge so you should totally get your name in the hat by playing along!
