Hello there! It's time for the Papertrey October Countdown and this month, I'm thrilled to be bringing you two new stamp sets!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on October 15 at 10pm EST.
If you've been hanging around here for very long, then you're probably already aware of how much I love to make my own gift tags so I was super excited to design my own set of holiday tags that are perfect for whipping up gift tags and tag embellishments for cards and other projects. And so, I'm happy to introduce you to 2013 Holiday Tags. The beauty of these tags is that they coordinate with the Limitless Layers: 2 1/4" oval dies, which you may already have in your stash!!
I've shown you my tag-making process before, and I used the same method here.....I start by die cutting the tag base first and in this case, I used a brand new Tag Sale die (designed by Lizzie Jones; see Nichole Heady's blog today, for more info)! I die cut 5 of those tags.....when creating tags, I like to do several at once -- typically sets of 4 or 5 -- all using the same color scheme. Next, I die cut the little text layer with the 2nd die in this new Tag Sale set, using Dearest Jane patterned paper.
As I'm die-cutting pieces, I start laying all the layers out, trying to get a feel for which stamps and what colors I'll want on each tag. I like to keep the color scheme the same but change up the details on each tag. This keeps it fun and interesting, but still keeps the process a bit quicker, since I'm working with the same inks and papers on all the tags.
Above, is another shot of the tags coming together. I've stamped the various layers and am still in the process of deciding what colors are going to go where.
And here are the completed tags. I'll show you some close ups below, so you can see the details on each individual tag, but seeing the set all together makes me so happy. :) You too?
Each tag has different layers popped up with foam adhesive.
It makes me so happy to have these tags ready to roll when it comes time to start wrapping Christmas gifts this year!
These close-up photos will let you get a better look at the tag images from 2013 Holiday Tags! Behind the ovals here, I added a simple notched strip of dark chocolate card stock.
I stamped this star tag in aqua mist ink, and then stamped a second one in dark chocolate, so that I could cut the star out and pop it up on the tag.
On this tag, I stamped it twice -- once in pure poppy and once in dark chocolate, cutting the pure poppy strip out and adhering it over the top of the dark chocolate tag. (Recognize the Damask Snowflakes here?) :)
On this tag, I used a sentiment and one set of the 'to' and 'from' stamps from 2013 Holiday Tags, to create my own little oval tag design.
This tag coordinates with my Peaceful Pinecones stamp set! This one's my favorite, but don't tell the others. ;)
And speaking of my favorite, how about a card using the same tag?
I used the Peaceful Pinecones stamp set and dies to create the pinecone layers. The branches are inked with ripe avocado, with aqua mist on the tips. The scalloped layer behind the tag is, of course, dark chocolate card stock and I topped things off with some Studio Calico sequins.
Here's the star tag from 2013 Holiday Tags again, this time, all in aqua mist. As for the background, I used another new product from this release -- a new Cover Plate die. (See Nichole's blog for details!) I used the Cover Plate on some aqua mist bitty dot patterned paper and layered it on a rustic cream card base.
The tag here, is layered on a Tag Sale #8 die cut that I turned upside down and trimmed the bottom (top) off of. Along the top of the card, is stamped another of the sentiments from 2013 Holiday Tags.
One more for you before I go.....this one pairs 2013 Holiday Tags with my other new release for this month -- Boutique Borders: Thinking of You!!
To create the background, I used two small star images from 2013 Holiday Tags, stamping them in raspberry fizz and pure poppy inks, alternating rows.
The focal point here, was created with the new Boutique Borders: Thinking of you frame image and it's coordinating die. I stamped the frame in pure poppy ink and then added another of the sentiments from 2013 Holiday Tags, in ripe avocado ink. Behind the Boutique Borders layer are some die-cut mistletoe leaves which were topped with pure poppy buttons!
All righty then, that's it for me today, but I'd love to hear what you think of 2013 Holiday Tags and Boutique Borders: Thinking of You so far!!!
Be sure to visit Nichole Heady & Betsy Veldman for lots more sneak peeks. Erin Lincoln, Heather Nichols, Maile Belles and Melissa Bickford will have peeks at their new sets as well.
Have a goodie and I'll see you back here tomorrow with lots more sneak peeks!
