It's definitely the most wonderful time of the year, once Firewood Delivery Day happens. Firewood Delivery Day signals the kick-off of Fireplace Season and it gives me a thrill each and every year! It makes me soooo happy to see this big ole lovely pile of wood stacked out back! You might have seen me post about it on Instagram or Twitter this week.
This big ole pile of firewood speaks of many cozy nights to come, knitting or reading or snuggling or watching tv in front of the fire. Nights listening to the snap, crackle and pop of the firewood, feeling the warmth from the fire, smelling that lovely wood-burning smell and seeing the gorgeous fire blazing bright.
I know I get rather dramatic and romantic and ridiculous about fires in the fireplace every year. I post pictures each year, of the wood pile and the fireplace and you might think it all a bit over the top, but I don't mind. We didn't have a fireplace growing up, so when we got married and had TWO fireplaces, well that just felt like the fanciest thing ever! Haha. Our fireplaces make me so happy! And now, when I KNIT in front of the fire, well I feel like I live on Little House On The Prairie! Haha! (Previous Fireplace posts: 2010, 2011, 2012)
When I take Windsor outside to do his business in the winter, and our fireplace has made the entire neighborhood smell like a little piece of Heaven, it makes me smile every. darn. time. :)
We had our first fire of the season the other night and it was pure bliss. Man. Each and every season brings with it so many delights.....you just have to look for them. What's delighting you this season?
Wishing you a warm and cozy day!
