Hi there!
It's time for the first of two Papertrey Group Posts this month, and today, we're showcasing a new stamp set designed by Nichole Heady, called Feather Finery!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on January 15 at 10pm EST.
Nichole challenged each of us on the Design Team to choose an inspiration photo as a jumping off point for our projects today, and then to show you two different cards using Feather Finery.....one super simple and one stepped up version. What a fun challenge this was!
Here is the photo I found on Pinterest to use as my inspiration....
And here is the first of my two feather projects. :) This is the simple version. I loved the bit of ikat pattern peeking out on the inspiration photo so I stamped a bit of Irresistable Ikat on the rustic cream background. I also loved the kraft color and the gold feather, so I incorporated both of those, by die cutting a tag (tag sale #5 die) and embossing one of the Feather Finery feathers with gold embossing powder.
Lastly, I created a little flag and stamped the Feather Finery sentiment pieces on it, using pure poppy and dark chocolate inks.
To step things up a bit, I stamped a rustic cream panel with more Irresistable Ikat, this time covering the whole panel. I also added some gold dots from the same stamp set, inside each of the diamonds, with a bit of gold ink. For a bit of added interest, this was layered on a rustic cream card base.
I die cut another of the kraft tags, but this time I heat embossed a gold feather and stamped a second smaller one with raspberry fizz and pure poppy inks, to go on top. I hand cut the feathers (there are dies available, but they didn't make it in time for our DT boxes this month). For the dotted feather, I simply inked each stamp (the feather and the dots) with both inks, keeping the pink at the top end and the red at the bottom.
I also stamped an adorable bird from Feather Finery, cut him out and added him on top of the feathers.
Lastly, of course, is the sweet sentiment from Feather Finery, that was stamped in dark chocolate ink.
I also wanted to give you another peek at Boutique Borders: Friends before I go. This little set of cards is SUPER simple, which means that you could whip up a stack in minutes!
I went with some almost sherbet colors of bitty dot papers (summer sunrise, limeade ice and berry sorbet) and layered them all on stamper's select white card bases.
Each one was stamped with the frame from Boutique Borders: Friends using smokey shadow ink. And on top of each, a small bit of white card stock was popped up, housing the sentiment -- all three are from Boutique Borders: Friends!
For a final touch, I added rhinestones to each of the frames!
All righty, my friends, I'm off for today, but I'll be back tomorrow for our second group post. It's another fun one! For now, don't forget to visit the other girls on the team!
