Hello there!
It's time again for the Stamp Designer Showcase at Papertrey, and this month, I chose to highlight my Say It With Style stamp set. It's one that I designed pretty early on and haven't used in quite awhile, so it was great to pull it out and give it some love! The thing I've discovered is that Say It With Style is a perfect fit when paired with some of the dies that have been released since this stamp set came out! For instance, with some super simple masking, I was able to stamp the "Love you" from Say It With Style in the space on the new Phrase Play 2 die perfectly! The size of the "Love you" letters are a perfect fit for filling that space!
For the card base, I used a piece of melon berry card stock and impressed it with the Stitching impression plate. Next, I die cut the Phrase Play 2 die a couple times from melon berry and berry sorbet card stocks. I backed the large berry sorbet layer with white card stock and popped out the berry sorbet "always" and popped in a melon berry "always" instead. I used foam adhesive to pop the "I'll" panel up a bit.
I stamped the "LOVE" first, masking off the "you" (because they're side by side on the stamp and I needed them to be on top of each other) and then stamped the "YOU" masking off the "love". The pretty cabachon flower is one that I've had in my stash for awhile....a friend gave it to me, so I'm not sure of the maker.
To make the Phrase Play 2 die even more of a focal point, I added a row of scalloped white card stock to the top and bottom, that I die cut with the heart border die. And just above the scallops at the bottom, I added a strip of hawaiian shores bitty dot paper as well as a thin strip of melon berry card stock. I love stretching die cuts like this, to make them a bit larger!
Next up is a fairly simple card, really, but it packs quite a punch! I started out with a stamper's select white card base and added a piece of dark chocolate bitty dot paper to the front.
Next, I cut a smaller piece of white card stock and used the One Liners: Happy dies to die cut 3 different "happy banners" from raspberry fizz, summer sunrise and hawaiian shores card stocks. I layered each back and forth on the white panel, curving them as I went, and simply adhered each flag at the top with a small foam square.
The "Birthday" is from Say It With Style and I masked off the "happy" from the stamp, with a bit of scotch tape so that I could pair it with these happy banners!
Below the sentiment is a strip of hawaiian shores card stock as well as a strip of dark chocolate card stock that was die cut with one of the Super Stars border dies....by adhering them this way, it looks like more little flags peeking out, but really it's just the bottom of the stars. ;)
One more for you, this one is very flat and easily mailable. All of the "dimension" on this card was achieved simply with stamps.
For the background, I started out with rustic cream card stock and the Background Basics: Newsprint stamp set. I inked the strip with smokey shadow ink but to achieve the splotchy, aged look, I stamped the strip off on scratch paper once before stamping on the card. I also stamped again without reinking on the next row. And when reinking again, I was very hit and miss with where I touched the ink to the stamp strip.
Next, I used the solid circle from Polka Dot Basics and stamped it a few times in simply chartreuse ink followed by the outline circle with new leaf ink.
The three large sentiments are all from Say It With Style and were stamped with smokey shadow ink, followed by the "FRIEND" from Wet Paint. Along the bottom of the cream panel, I added a strip of smokey shadow striped paper and a piece of new leaf card stock that was die cut with the small scalloped border die. The whole thing was layered on a simply chartreuse card base.
Well, I hope I've given you a few fun ideas for using the Say It With Style set whether you've got it and can pull it out and play with it today, or whether you might have just added it to your wish list! ;)
