Thought I'd pop in and give you a little update now that we're a week out from Bart's surgery. He's doing so well! He's had very minimal pain for several days now and hasn't even had any pain meds -- not even Tylenol -- for a couple days! We're soooo grateful! He's been up and walking every day since the day of the surgery and now, at home, he walks around the house whenever he gets tired of sitting too long. When he walks around the house, Windsor gets up and follows him as he makes his laps and then, Bart says, "I'm walking the dog!" lol.
We have a follow up doctor's apmt later this week. Hoping for a great report. He's still home and off work this week, so Windsor is happy as a clam to have his daddy home all day every day! Haha. Bartley will still have pretty restricted activity for the next several weeks as he recovers, but we feel super encouraged at how well he's done so far.
As for me, I'm two weeks in on my 6 week elimination diet and have continued to feel crummy at least part of every day. I'm tracking everything I eat and how I feel at various points throughout the day. It's a little sad to see on paper, that I haven't had a full day of feeling good in the last two weeks. I mean, this is nothing new...it's been this way for a long time now. But to see it on paper, right there in black and white, is harder to ignore. However, we've been praying that God would make it very clear to us, whether I'm supposed to go to Mayo Clinic in a few months and obviously, if I continue to feel bad every day while on this diet, I'd say that's a pretty clear answer. ;) So, while I'd love to be feeling better all the time, I'm grateful that God may be using this time to make it really obvious as to how we should proceed.
And also, I feel a little hopeful that if I continue to feel cruddy while eating SUCH a restricted diet, then perhaps food isn't the problem. It would be so lovely to find out that it's some weird issue that can be fixed and that it's not a food intolerance (or ten) at all! Haha. A girl can hope (and pray!), right? ;)
These are a few photos for you, of what's been happening around our yard in the last couple weeks. In case you don't follow me on Twitter or Instagram, I've shared lots more there.
Hope you are having a really great week and thank you SO much for continuing to lift us up in prayer, for sending notes of encouragement and gifts in the mail to brighten our day and just for caring! We appreciate you!
