Hello there! It's time for another Stamp Designer Showcase post and this month, I've pulled out my previously released Background Basics: Woodgrain stamp set!
The great thing about Background Basics: Woodgrain is that it'll work well with nearly any other stamp set you might want to pair it with! And of course you can easily make masculine cards with it, but I love the juxtaposition of pairing the woodgrain pattern with soft, girly images like butterflies and flowers! I've whipped up a couple cards to share with you, doing just that!
For this first card, I started out by die cutting the butterfly elements using the Life is Beautiful dies. The top layer was cut from raspberry fizz card stock and the back layer from berry sorbet.
Remember that your background stamps aren't just for backgrounds! They're great for creating your own embellishments, like my butterfly here!
I stamped the berry sorbet layer with Background Basics: Woodgrain using berry sorbet ink and after putting the butterfly layers together, topped them with a berry sorbet button.
Next, I took a large berry sorbet panel and die cut the Limitless Layers: 2-1/2" scalloped circle from the front and then I ran it through the Vagabond with Woodgrain Impression Plate. I love subtly reitering the woodgrain pattern on the background in this way! Behind the berry sorbet panel is a piece of dark chocolate bitty dot patterned paper.
As for the sentiment strip, I chose a sentiment from Friendly Flowers and stamped it in dark chocolate ink on a strip of raspberry fizz bitty dot paper.
For this card, I stamped Background Basics: Woodgrain on more berry sorbet card stock, this time using it for the whole background. I was inspired by Dani's Make It Monday video this week, so I pulled out some vellum and die cut it with the Monthly Moments: journal card 2 die. I layered the vellum over the background, adhering it only behind the flower....that way the adhesive doesn't show through the vellum. ;)
The flower and pointy leaves were created with Friendly Flowers and the coordinating dies. The flower was stamped with limeade ice, simply chartreuse and hawaiian shores inks, while the leaves were stamped with raspberry fizz ink on white card stock. The tall leaves (from Leave It Be) were also stamped with raspberry fizz ink, this time on raspberry fizz card stock. The sentiment is another from Friendly Flowers.
I hope I've inspired you to pull out your Background Basics: Woodgrain stamp set and use it soon!! And if you don't have it yet, you might want to add it to your wish list.....it's a great one that you'll be able to use with tons of stuff you may already have in your stash!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with my projects from the next Make It Market kit. I hope you'll pop in!
