Hello there! It's time for the Papertrey July Countdown and this month, I've got two new stamp sets to share with you, the first of which is called Pack Your Bags! It's a fun travel-themed set featuring stacking two-step vintage style suitcases! There are also a wide variety of sentiments that will allow you to cover lots of different card-giving occasions, including some that you may not have had stamps for until now! ;)
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on July 15 at 10pm EST.
Something else I've got coming out this month, is the new Tag Sale #11 die, which I designed to look like an actual luggage tag! It comes with 4 dies (see above) to give you quite a few design options. The die on the left is the frame that can be layered over the actual tag die (2nd from left). The long, skinny die next in line is the "hanger" portion of the tag -- you can top this with a button or some gems, or you can even add an actual metal buckle for decoration. The die on the right can be used on the main tag after you've cut it out. Cut out two tags and then place this die on one of them and run it through the die cut machine. It creates a "flap", just like on some real luggage tags, and you can embellish the flap and stamp your message on the tag layer behind the flap. I'll show you an example of this in the coming days, so stay tuned. ;)
Ok, so let's talk about this first card. For the background, I stamped Background Basics: Newsprint on white card stock using new leaf ink. I wanted it to look a little worn in places, so I wasn't super careful about ink coverage on the stamp. That achieved the look perfectly. Then, over the top of the newsprint, I stamped Polka Dot Basics III, using hawaiian shores ink.
And now let's talk about the luggage tag!! What you see here for the main part of the tag, is actually 3 layers -- two of the tag shape (one from simply chartreuse card stock and one from clear card stock) and one of the frame die cuts. The clear card stock tag was sandwiched in between the ripe avocado frame and the simply chartreuse tag, after I stamped the sentiment from Pack Your Bags using ripe avocado ink. Scor-tape makes it super easy to pop all the layers together!
Of course, you can totally skip the clear card stock layer, but it just adds to the overall look of an actual luggage tag! Love that!
Oh, and how fun is that sentiment?! What Grandma wouldn't be thrilled to get a card in the mail, letting her know how excited her grandkids are to come visit? :)
And lastly, let's talk about the 'hanger' portion at the top of the tag. I simply die cut one of the hanger strips and folded it in half, and looped it through the tag holes. I pulled out some of my old Stampin' Up! hardward from ages ago, and was excited to find a metal buckle that fit! How authentic does that look?! Haha!
Lastly, we've got to talk about the super fun suitcase!! This is the largest suitcase from Pack Your Bags. I die cut it from white card stock and stamped it with berry sorbet and pure poppy inks. Next, I die cut the teeny luggage tag with one of the Pack Your Bags dies and stamped it with one of the 5 teeny sentiments from Pack Your Bags, that fit this little tag. I tied on a little chocolate baker's twine and popped it up with some foam adhesive. Fun, yes? :)
Next up is a card that pairs Pack Your Bags with Lizzie Jones' new Text Block: Thankful die. I die cut the sentiment from rustic cream and hawaiian shores card stocks and then popped the hawaiian shores ampersand into the rustic cream die cut.
These two sentiment stamps ("Thanks" and "for house-sitting") from Pack Your Bags were stamped in dark chocolate ink. There are quite a few sentiment building options in this set, but the ones that go with this "Thanks" stamp include "Thanks"...."for pet-sitting", "for babysitting", "for taking care of things" and "while we were gone". These are perfect for so many people, including the person who waters your flowers, mows your lawn or gets your mail when you're out of town! What a fun way to say thank you!
As for the suitcases, these are the medium and small suitcases from Pack Your Bags. They were each stamped with hawaiian shores and new leaf inks. I kind of want real luggage in these colors! Ha!
Next up is a Birthday Classics: August card for you! You'll be pleased to know that the large sentiment fits perfectly on the Limitless Layers: 2 1/2" circle dies!
I used the Hello Sunshine stamp set to add "rays" coming out from behind the die cut.
The sentiment was stamped on raspberry fizz card stock with pure poppy ink and layered on a pinked edge die cut in pure poppy. The separate little medallion image from Birthday Classics: August was added to the sun with smokey shadow ink.
One more Birthday Classics: August for today....on this one, I stamped the large sentiment in summer sunrise ink on white card stock and topped it with a little orange zest medallion.
I used Heather Nichols' new Banner Sentiments set, to stamp the "It's Time to Celebrate" on a double-ended banner die cut. Behind it is layered a strip of orange zest card stock as well as some bitty dot paper in raspberry fizz.
For the background, I layered a piece of kraft card stock that was die cut with the Cover Plate: Quatrefoil die, over the top of the kraft card base. So easy and yet so much texture and interest!
All righty, I'm off for now, but you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady, Heather Nichols, Melissa Phillips, & Ashley Cannon Newell for lots more sneak peeks. Melissa Bickford and Lizzie Jones will have peeks at their new sets as well.
Hope you've enjoyed your time with me!
