The blanket is growing and the yarn stash is shrinking! Hooray! That means I'm making progress on my first ever crocheted blanket. It's turning out way bigger than I thought, which is lovely since it means Bartley and I will likely BOTH be able to snuggle under it when it's done. Not a bad thing at all, in my estimation. ;)
This has been the perfect (non)pattern for me for my first blanket. Being able to just sit and double crochet stitch after stitch without really even thinking about it, while watching tv with my sweet hubs in the evenings, has been ideal. And so relaxing. Ahh. Makes me quite excited for cooler nights cozied up in front of the fire with one yarn project or another on my lap!
In fact, after my previous post about my afghan, several of you were sweet enough to chat with me about your own afghan experiences and memories and some of you even shared links to patterns and such. Jen shared the link for this Granny Ripple blanket which would be a super cute baby blanket! And that link also led me to this Rugged Ripples Blanket which I'm now officially dreaming about. Sadly, that's not an exaggeration. Last night, I dreamed that I was going to make one of these ripple blankets and my sisters and I were shopping for yarn at Hobby Lobby and I was lamenting the lack of color choices (and by that, I mean that I would like every type of yarn to come in every single color in the whole entire color spectrum. Is that too much to ask?!) lol. Anyhoooo.....I clearly have this ripple blanket on the brain so much because night before last, I followed the tutorial video and made this practice swatch! Swoon! I'm in love! And now, it's sitting in front of me, here on my desk looking oh-so-cheery and making me wish it was crochet time!
I have literally laid awake at night, thinking of possible color combinations for this ripple blanket! I see many of these blankies in my future! Just think of all the adorable baby blankets I could make!! Lots and lots of special ripple "lovies" for all the little sweetpeas in my life.....! Ahhh. And this is why I'm now dreaming about blankets. Clearly I have issues....
Side note: The video I followed is by VeryPink Knits and I find her videos very easy to understand and follow along with! And for me, it's just easier to follow along with a video, than a step-by-step photo tutorial. Anyway, this blanket looks similar to the gorgeous ripple blanket by Attic24, that is all over Pinterest and the interwebs. Such a pretty rainbow blankie! ;) And now, I can make my own!!!
Oh shoot....I just made the mistake of popping over to get you the link to my crochet board on Pinterest and started swooning again, at all the blankets I've pinned......ripples, chevron, bubbles......and don't even get me started on all the gorgeous color combos!! I think my heart rate is increasing just thinking about it! haha. Oh dear....
And of course, I'm still dreaming about the Popcorn Stitch Baby Blanket that my friend, Debee, made back in 2011. This darn blanket is what started my whole 'crochet thing'! Must. make. one. someday! It's totally on the list. Granted, the list is long. But it's like a long list of great books you want to read.....it's never a bad thing! Just think of the hours and hours of enjoyment you get from all those great books! Or cozy blankets!
Wishing you a warm and snuggly day. And yes, I know it's like 80* outside right now. :)
xoxo,
P.S. The yarn I'm using for my first crocheted blanket is Soft Secret by Yarn Bee from Hobby Lobby and the colors are Hot Pink, Mist, Flamingo, Aqua and Dark Walnut. The yarns on the ripple swatch are a mix of yarns from my stash, but I'm planning to use I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby, for my first ripple blanket.
