Hi there!
It's time for the first Papertrey Group Post of this release! We get to share the new Monthly Moments: August collection with you today, plus I've got a few more Tick Tock and Birthday Classics: September cards to share with you!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on August 15 at 10pm EST.
The colors on the Monthly Moments journaling cards this month, are so fun! I couldn't resist die-cutting them to create this cute focal point. The pink dotted journaling card was die cut with the new Monthly Moments Spiral Notebook die and another of the journaling cards was die cut with the Love Lives Here butterfly die. I used stamps from the Monthly Moments: August stamp set, to create the sentiment strip and behind it, I tucked one more little strip of turquoise journaling card as an accent! These Monthly Moments goodies make it a cinch to whip up quick, adorable cards!
Ok, now how about a Tick Tock card? :)
I stamped the cuckoo clocks on a white card stock panel and then used an exacto knife to cut out the little door portion on each. It just requires 3 cuts -- a straight line at the bottom of the windows, a curved line along the top and a straight line to seperate the two "doors". And here's a tip for you....it looks like the birds are stamped on the card base, but you can make it super easy by stamping the birds on separate little pieces of card stock in the same color as your card base, and then adhering them in the proper places behind each window! That way, you don't have to try to line up the bird with the window when you're stamping it.
Both sentiments are also from Tick Tock and were stamped in dark chocolate ink.
Here's another one for you.......
On this one, I stamped the cuckoo clock in hawaiian shores and dark chocolate inks and added limeade ice die cut shutters. I used one of the new Blanket Stitch Button Dies to create the button accent. (See Nichole Heady's blog for more info about these dies!) I die cut the button from limeade ice felt as well as a cardboard coaster. I used the blanket stitch, to stitch both layers together, which gives the felt a little bit of stability.
The sentiment is from Tick Tock as well as the little scalloped accent strip just below it!
One more for you today......this one pairs Birthday Classics: September with last year's Mum's the Word! A match made in Heaven!
The top flower was stamped with terracotta tile ink, while the bottom two were stamped with canyon clay ink, without reinking before stamping the second time. By stamping the bottom flower without reinking, not only does it provide some great color variation to the flowers, but it also allows the sentiment to show up better, without competing with the flower. The three sentiment building stamps -- all from Birthday Classics: September -- were all stamped in dark chocolate ink.
All righty, that's it for me today, but be sure to check out what the rest of the team has done with the Monthly Moments: August collection!
