Hi there!
Happy October 1!! I say it every month, but good grief, where is the time going?! Haha. OCTOBER!! At Papertrey, when it's the first of the month, it also means it's time for the Senior Design Team Challenge and this month, we're highlight Autumn Hills, just in time for fall!
I love fall. I've said it before and I'll probably tell you again next year. ;) I love the bright red and orange trees, the chill in the air, fun socks and tall boots, warm cozy drinks and apple cider donuts and eventually, crackling fires in the fireplace. Ahhh.
So it is with those thoughts in mind, that I show you these Autumn Hills cards I whipped up.
For those of you that aren't colorers, you might be tempted to overlook line drawn sets, that require you to color them in. However, don't forget that there are lots of ways to add color, without actually "coloring" like with markers or the like. In this case, a quick watercolor wash with several fall-ish colors, achieves a striking effect and gets that fall feeling across without ever busting out a marker!
The sentiment and image from Autumn Hills were stamped on some watercolor paper that was die cut with the Basic Bookmark #3 die, using palette noir ink. That way, I could wash over the image with watercolor and the paper wouldn't buckle AND the ink wouldn't smear.
On the orange zest bitty dot patterned paper, I also added some texture with the woodgrain impression plate. It's a subtle little touch that adds a bit of woodsiness....woodsyness.....a woodsy feel. ;)
I also die cut and stamped a couple of leaf clusters with the Leave It Be stamps and dies.
One more for today....this one just makes me smile. It kinda reminds me of those pumpkin candies that come in the Autumn Mix bags with candy corn! Are those mellowcremes? Mallowcremes? I don't even know. I'm an Indian Corn kinda girl myself.
Aaaaanywho, I started out with a piece of kraft card stock and stamped it with the small cluster of pumpkins from Autumn Hills, using versamark ink. Then I heat embossed them with an orange Zing! embossing powder.
I used the top half of a die cut Basic Bookmark #3 die, and turned it upside down before stamping this sentiment from Autumn Hills in dark chocolate ink. I stamped it again on another piece of card stock, using orange zest ink and adhered just the "autumn" over the top with foam adhesive. Behind the tag is a strip of bitty dot paper and some chocolate twine tied on the tag finished things off.
Be sure to visit each of the other Senior Team members for lots more Autumn Hills inspiration today
