Hi there! The anniversary festivities continue at Papertrey as we celebrate the company's 8th anniversary and count down to release day when all of this month's new releases will finally be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink. That happens on February 15 at 10pm EST.
For today, I've got a fun card to show you that I made with a new set designed by Betsy Veldman, called Blue Skies. This set has lots of different images and sentiments that can be used in a variety of different ways (including turning clouds into cupcake icing!). It's a fun set for sure, and of course, there are coordinating dies to give you even more design options.
For this card, I started by laying out all the stamps I wanted to use as well as putting all of the inks in a row, according to the colors I wanted to use on what pieces. I knew I wanted the sunburst image to be stamped with summer sunrise ink, but I also knew I wanted the colors in rainbow order and I knew I wanted to stamp a cloud and the birds above the sun. So I played with arranging things for awhile first, before I started stamping. Then, once I started stamping, the process was fairly quick.
The four lines of the sentiment are all on one stamp, so I just masked off the rows with scotch tape, and inked them one line at a time. That allowed me to keep going with my rainbow of colors. Can I just say that I love this sentiment? I do. :)
I also added a little strip of striped vellum, peeking out from the side of the focal panel.
I also have a couple of other cards for you....this one includes both Enclosed: Flower and Tucked In: Mother. I know I've said it before that these Tucked In stamps were designed to be used on the inside of cards and they're lovely when used in that way. But goodness, they work really well on the front of cards too! Thought I'd give you another example of that today.
I stamped the Tucked In: Mother sentiment in fresh snow ink on smokey shadow card stock. On the fresh snow linen card base, I stamped a variety of flowers using the Enclosed: Flower stamp set. When I designed the set, I envisioned using the smallest shading image as you see it on the top flower. However, as you can see, you can achieve a variety of looks with these flowers, simply by changing things up a bit. The smaller flowers were created with that same small shading image, but instead of only stamping it 5 times around the flower, I stamped the petals much closer together. Voila! Another little flower look! I used a 3/4" circle punch to punch out some raspberry fizz and berry sorbet card stock, and topped those with lots of adhesive pearls for the flowers' centers.
I know I tend to lean towards the bright and colorful when it comes to my color choices, but as you can see, the Enclosed: Flower stamps also look lovely when stamped in a very neutral color palette.
I stamped the larger petal image and the flower centers in fresh snow ink, and then stamped the smaller shading image on the petals, using kraft ink. The "You make me" and "Smile" were stamped with smokey shadow ink and a bit of dark chocolate baker's twine tied around the card, finishes off the look.
All right, I'm off for now, but don't forget to visit Nichole Heady. She'll be sharing lots more about Blue Skies, as well as today's contest and will also have a complete list of all the other designers participating in today's post!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're enjoying all the anniversary fun this week!
See you tomorrow!
