Hi there!
Welcome back to day 3 of the Countdown! Today is the first of this month's Group Posts at Papertrey and today, it's all about summer! We're showcasing a DARLING new stamp set by Lizzie Jones called Second Helping of Sunshine, which features more of those vintage Pyrex-inspired bowls and this time -- a vintage scale!! I'm in love! We're also highlighting Betsy Veldman's new Quilted: Summer stamp set and boy, is it fun to play with! Oh, and we're also showing you peeks at Betsy's new Background Basics: Plaid Builder stamp set. I had a lot of fun with this one....your color combination possibilities are limitless with this fun set!!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on May 15 at 10pm EST.
For our projects today, Nichole asked us to find a couple of summery photos to use as color inspiration for our cards, and go from there. So here is my first inspiration photo.....doesn't it look yummy?!
And here is the card I created with these colors in mind....
Color Combo: limeade ice, pure poppy, simply chartreuse
I started out by stamping the plaid on a piece of white card stock. It's so easy because there are groupings of stripes all on the same stamp, which makes it a bit faster to build your plaid. And it's so fun because you can make plaid in a zillion different color combos. You know how color excites me!!
Next, I die cut and stamped the cherries, pears, bowls and scale from Second Helping of Sunshine. I put them all on another white card stock panel and stamped a sentiment from the same set.
I kinda want to put that scale on every single card. I just want to pile stuff up on that little scale, just like I do with my vintage scales in real life.....books, mini McCoy pottery vases, mason jars....you name it, you could probably stack it on this little scale!
Here is the summery inspiration piece I chose for my second card.....
And here is the card I created with Quilted: Summer....
Color Combo: raspberry fizz, pure poppy, summer sunrise, simply chartreuse, aqua mist, hawaiian shores, canyon clay
I started out by die cutting two of the Quilted: Summer quilt block dies, so I got two full sets of all the little triangles and the frames to make two quilt blocks. Then, I stamped them all up with the coordinating stamps from the set and adhered them all to a smokey shadow card base.
Note: I cut one of the quilt squares in half, so that I could center a complete square on the card front and then put half a square above it and half below it. Also note: I layered the tops and bottoms of the frames on top of each other. By stacking them at the 'seams', I kept the white border the same width at the top and bottom as it is on the sides of the card.
Along the bottom portion of the card, I added a sentiment strip, stamped with a sentiment from Quilted: Summer. I also die cut and stamped a couple flower clusters from the same set....I love those little flowers.
Next, I've got a little gift tag & card combo for you.....they combine my Enclosed: Star stamps and dies with Watercooler Talk and Center Style: Feminine.
For the card, I started with a white card base and added some pure poppy bitty dot paper. Next, I die cut some kraft card stock with the Center Style: Feminine die as well as some raspberry fizz and pure poppy card stock with the accent dies.
I stamped one of the images from Center Style: Feminine on the raspberry fizz layer and stacked it on top of a pure poppy die cut. Both of those were layered on the top of the kraft die cut.
As for the star, I die cut the solid star with the Enclosed: Star dies and stamped one of the star detail images five times in pure poppy ink, to decorate the star. Then, I stamped several sentiments from Watercooler Talk -- one directly on the star, one on a strip of white card stock and one on the kraft die cut layer.
For the tag, I used several similar elements.....the main kraft layer and the pure poppy and raspberry fizz layers at the top and the bottom this time.
I also die cut a raspberry fizz star and stamped it with one of the other images from Enclosed: Star, followed by the "for you" (also from Enclosed: Star) in the center with smokey shadow ink. I also die cut one of the "Super" star frame die cuts from white card stock and layered it behind the pink star, for an additional pop of detail!
By punching a hole in the top of the Center Style die cuts, I was able to turn this puppy into a tag! Easy peasy and what a pretty little tag it is!
Next up is a Center Style: Masculine card for you.
On the new leaf card base, I stamped the chevron image several times with new leaf ink.
I die cut the main Center Style: Masculine die from smokey shadow card stock and then die cut two of the companion dies from white card stock and stamped them with coordinating images from the set. The top one was stamped with hawaiian shores and the bottom one with new leaf and tropical teal inks.
The two sentiments are from Watercooler Talk and I stamped them with versamark ink and then heat embossed them with Zing! colored embossing powders.
One more before I go.....here's a Father's Day option for you.
I used another new leaf card base and this time, die cut the Center Style: Masculine die from blueberry sky card stock and stamped it with a sentiment from Tucked In: Father's Day.
I pulled out the On the Links stamp set and added a golf bag as well as some golf balls and tees on the side.
That's it for me, but there's tons more for you to see! Happy blog hopping!
