Hi there!
Welcome back for another fun Papertrey Group Post! Today, we're focusing on a few new products inspired by the sea! We've got a lighthouse stamp set by Nichole Heady called Guiding Light, as well as a coordinating Scripture set called Light of Life. And we've also got a cute little stamp set by Maile Belles called Ahoy....oh, and there's a new cover plate in the mix too -- Waves!
As a reminder, all of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on June 15 at 10pm EST.
To kick things off, I created this fun birthday card with Guiding Light. I love that it would work for a guy or a lady. I couldn't decide which of the lighthouses I liked best, so I just stamped them all! Why not? Who says your card has to have a true-to-life scene on the front?!
I stamped the stripes on each lighthouse in red ink, and then stamped the shading image on each with soft stone. Then, I topped them all with smokey shadow ink at the top of each image. The nice thing is the images are already built together for you, so each one is just three stamps....no little bits and pieces to have to put together! I also stamped the "happy birthday" from the set, with pure poppy ink.
Along the bottom of the card, I added one of the sentiments from Light of Life.
Next up, I got all technique-y and busted out my inks and blending tools. I felt very Laura Bassen. :) (She amazes me!) Anyway, I started by blending four colors of ink on a piece of white card stock, starting with aqua mist at the top and working my way down with hawaiian shores, new leaf and then tropical teal. Next, I used the new Cover Plate: Waves die and die cut the inked up card stock as well as a piece of plain white. I popped out the white pieces and popped in the inked up pieces! Easy peasy! And bonus, you then are left with white pieces which could be popped into the inked up frame piece, if you wanted to create a second card with a reverse look of this one!
I used the new Ahoy stamps and dies to create the little anchor, the sailboat and the rope, and lastly, added a couple sentiments and birds from Ahoy, up at the top of the card. I popped the whole thing on a white card base.
I've got several more things to share today too, using my new releases! First up is a card featuring Bloomers and Scripted. I LOVE how this turned out and seriously, you could do any ombre color combo you can dream up, to create the same card!!
The flowers at the top are stamped with berry sorbet ink, and are topped with accents from Bloomers, with raspberry fizz ink -- two accent stamps per flower. The middle flowers were stamped with melon berry ink and topped with berry sorbet ink and the bottom flowers were stamped with sweet blush ink and topped with melon berry.
To create the same card in other colors, you just want to work from darkest to lightest (or reverse that!) and just top the next row of flowers with the previous row's main ink color. Make sense?
The sentiments here, are both from Scripted and were stamped on fresh snow linen card stock. I love that the texture of the linen shows a bit in the solid flower stamps. The linen card stock was mounted on a stamper's select white card base.
Next up, more ink smooshing. I used my new Gansai Tambi watercolors for this one (link below). I tell you, if you haven't tried this technique yet, you really should. It is fun, fun, fun!
The Bloomers flowers were die cut from tropical teal and kraft card stock. I didn't do any stamping on the back layer of each flower, but I added several detail stamps to each of the flower centers, using tropical teal and ripe avocado inks.
When the watercolor was completely dry, I stamped two sentiments from Scripted.
On the inside of the card, I added a strip of tropical teal card stock and stamped it with one of the new Tucked In: Birthday sentiments in ripe avocado ink.
For this card, I die cut a bunch of the "Just because" from the Scripted die collection and arranged them in a kind of ombre order.
I added a little sentiment strip with one of the companion sentiments from Scripted.
One more little pair for you before I go, featuring Enclosed: Cupcake....
First, I made a little gift tag. I die cut the solid cupcake from berry sorbet card stock and stamped it with pure poppy sprinkles and berry sorbet icing shading images. I die cut the cupcake liner from fresh snow linen card stock and stamped it with melon berry "pleats" from Enclosed: Cupcake.
I topped the liner with a sentiment strip featuring one of the little sentiments from Enclosed: Cupcake and added a die cut cherry to the top.
I adhered the cupcake to the front of an Enclosed: Basic Folded Tag die cut and stamped the little "Enjoy" from Enclosed: Cupcake inside.
For the coordinating card, I used many of the same elements and just mixed up the order.
The cupcake base was cut from melon berry card stock and stamped with shading images in melon berry, as well as sprinkles in berry sorbet and pure poppy. The "celebrate" frame layer was cut from linen card stock and the cupcake liner was cut from berry sorbet card stock and stamped with pure poppy pleats.
For the cherries, I inked the cherry with pure poppy ink, and then sponged on some raspberry fizz in the upper right corner where the 'shine' detail is and then stamped the stems with ripe avocado ink. Once the whole card was put together, I added glossy accents to the cherries (did the same on the tag too) and set them aside to completely dry overnight. I love how shiny they are in real life!
I used a piece of striped vellum behind the cupcake and stamped one of the Tucked In: Birthday sentiments on the kraft base!
That's it for me today, but the rest of the team has lots more to share!
