Hi there!
Welcome back for another fun Papertrey Group Post! Today, we're talking birthdays and there are lots of new products coming your way, to help you create all sorts of birthday cards and treats!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on June 15 at 10pm EST.
So, Nichole asked us to find an inspiration photo to use as a jumping off point for our little ensemble of products and I chose this Kate Spade wallet! Isn't it cute?!! Goodness, but wallets are expensive though! Haha!
Anyway, I love the colors and used those to get things rolling with this little set of goodies.
First up, I used Lizzie Jones' new Favor It: Cupcake Box die to create this little cupcake box! You die cut two pieces and adhere them together at the tabs. Then, there are tabs at the top of the six "petals" that hook together. You just hook each pair of opposing tabs, starting with the two smallest ones first. Then, fold the next two over the top of the smallest ones, and hook them. And lastly, fold the two largest ones over the top of all the others, and hook them. Then, embellish however you'd like!
I chose to embellish mine with Bloomers flowers because who doesn't love a cupcake with flowers on top?! I used melon berry and berry sorbet colors, as well as sweet blush leaves, all to mimic the colors from the inspiration wallet. And of course, I also used hawaiian shores and topped them all with some black pearls to mimic the beak from the photo.
A fun thing to note is that you can use the sprinkles and cupcake liner pleats images from Enclosed: Cupcake to further dress up your cupcake box! I just masked off three little pleats on either side of the image, and stamped the 6 pleats from the middle of the image, on each side of the box.
Next, I used Nichole Heady's new Party Hat and Party Hat Trims dies to create this little cutie. You cut two pieces and adhere them together to create the hat and I found that patterned paper worked best for me. The lighter weight paper allowed the hat to curve more easily. I adhered two rows of fringe as well as the pinked edge layer, all from the Party Hat Trims collection and again, I topped the hat with Bloomers flowers! You could make these for every kid at a birthday party or just make a special hat for the birthday kid.
Ruffling that fringe forward is my favorite part! Haha.
And here is the coordinating card.....I started out with a hawaiian shores card base and stamped some of Lizzie's new Hooray streamers across the top of the base.
Next, I used one of her new Hooray patterned papers and simply stamped several sentiments from the Hooray stamp set, and then added a Scripted die cut.
I've got several other cards to share with you today too, starting with this one featuring Lizzie's new Text Block: Horizontal Birthday die. UM, I LOVE THIS ONE. Seriously. Isn't it fun? And paired with Bloomers??? Well, they're practically a match made in Heaven!
I stamped the leaves from Leave It Be on the card base and the linen layer and then die cut and stamped the Bloomers flowers to add over the top.
For this one, I stamped the sentiment from Bloomers first, in smokey shadow ink and then stamped all of the flowers and leaves (from Leave It Be) in fresh snow ink first, and then stamped them all again with the various ink colors.
The thing that makes this look the most striking is shifting the images ever so slightly, so you get that slight shadow effect. When you've practiced for years at lining things up perfectly, it's a little hard sometimes, to stamp things slightly askew on purpose! Haha. But it's so worth it when you do!
A little rainbow action for you here.....I stamped the sentiment from the new Keep It Simple: Praying For You and added the Scripted die cut just above it.
The Bloomers flowers were all added next, going in a basic rainbow order.
For this one, I couldn't resist using some of Betsy's new Still Life: Summer paper, stamps and dies to accent the Enclosed: Cupcake. I'd also been saving a strip of watercolored paper I trimmed off another card earlier in the week, so I used that here. So glad I saved it!
The "Enjoy" die cuts and the cherries cluster are all from Still Life: Summer. I used Enclosed: Cupcake accents to stamp on the raspberry fizz layer to create the icing shading and die cut the Celebrate frame from pure poppy card stock.
Of course the cupcake liner here, was die cut from kraft card stock and stamped with dark chocolate ink.
Inside the card, I stamped a Tucked In: Birthday sentiment and more of the Still Life: Summer cherries.
Ok, I'm off for now, but don't forget to visit the rest of the team!
