Hello!
Oh my goodness, I'm so excited about today....we've got another fun Papertrey Group Post for you and today, we're showcasing Vintage Linens and Nichole Heady's new stamp set and dies called Embroidered Borders! Embroidered Borders allow you to create really pretty borders that look like they were hand-embroidered just like on vintage hankies and such, from days gone by. And they work beautifully with the new Vintage Linens stamps and dies! I looooove stamping with flowers, love flowers in real life, and love actual vintage linens, so I can hardly wait to see everyone's projects today!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on July 15 at 10pm EST.
So to get things started, Nichole asked us to choose a photo to use as inspiration for our pair of projects today, and here is what I chose...
Such a lovely scene, don't you think? I love that tablecloth!! I used the colors as inspiration for my cards, as well as the scalloped detail. Let me show you...
First up is a pretty simple card....just two layers, nice and flat and perfect for easy mailing. I die cut some white card stock with my Edgers #3 die and then stamped a sentiment from Perfect Pairing. Then, I stamped the Vintage Linens flowers first in hibiscus burst ink, followed by pure poppy outlines. Again, I purposely stamped them slightly off-center to recreate the look of so many vintage linens from the past, but if you prefer, you can easily stamp them straight on.
After the flowers were stamped, I added the leaves, and then used one of the embroidered dot images from Embroidered Borders to add some berries around the flowers as well as dots all over. I stamped the dots around the flowers in full strength hawaiian shores ink, and stamped them off once before stamping on the white panel, for all the others, to soften the background.
Next up is a card with a bit more in the way of layers. I started out by die-cutting some hawaiian shores card stock with one of the Embroidered Borders dies and then stamped it with versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. The nice thing about these borders, is that you don't have to die cut them, if you don't want. You can also just stamp them directly on your project.
I die cut the Vintage Linens flowers and leaves and then stamped the new leaf leaves with hawaiian shores ink. I die cut the flowers from hibiscus burst card stock and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder, before adding some red watercolor to the centers with a water brush.
The sentiment at the bottom of the card, is made up of two stamps from Embroidered Borders....love this font pairing!
This time, I heat embossed white embossing powder on white die cut flowers, and then added some watercolor to the centers....Same technique but quite a different look on the white card stock.
Behind the flowers, I stamped some simply chartreuse leaves and the sentiment is one from Vintage Linens.
This card was made with one of the Vintage Linens patterned papers. I trimmed the edges just a bit and layered it on a piece of pink shimmer card stock.
In the upper corner, I stamped two sentiments from Embroidered Borders.
On the flowers, I simply added some die cut flower centers, using the Vintage Linens dies and harvest gold ink.
For this one, I started out with a piece of kraft card stock that was die cut with the monthly moments: journal card 2 die and I stamped a sentiment from Perfect Pairing at the bottom.
Next, I stamped three Vintage Linens flowers in fresh snow ink, before stamping them each again over the top and slightly off-set, with melon berry, berry sorbet and raspberry fizz inks.
Peeking out from behind the journal card are some die cut leaves that were stamped off first before stamping the dark chocolate ink on white card stock. Then, the veins were added with full-strength dark chocolate ink.
The whole thing was layered on a piece of Vintage Linens patterned paper that was adhered to the card front and a bit of chocolate baker's twine finishes things off.
For this one, I wanted to use the other of the two large Embroidered Borders frames, so I die cut the hex frame from white card stock and stamped it with dark chocolate ink.
I added a Scripted die cut at the top, from tropical teal card stock, as well as a Vintage Linens flower and some leaves.
At the bottom of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Tucked In: Thinking of You.
Lastly for today, here's a little Enclosed: Sun card for you. I layered a piece of bitty dot vellum on a raspberry fizz card base, as well as a strip of white card stock.
I die cut the solid sun from orange zest card stock, and layered it with a Doily Details die cut, as well as the circle die cut from Enclosed: Sun. On that summer sunrise circle, I stamped a couple sentiments from the Enclosed: Sun stamp set.
Whew! That's it for me, but you won't want to miss any of the other designers' Vintage Linens posts! Be sure to pay them all a visit!
