Hi there!
Welcome back for the first group post of this month's Papertrey Countdown! Today, we're highlighting the newest mini kit from Betsy Veldman, called Holiday Folk.
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on September 15 at 10pm EST.
Homemade Christmas ornaments just say 'folksy' to me, so I decided to use the Holiday Folk kit to whip up a set of four. Not only can these be used as ornaments, but they make great gift toppers before the recipient hangs them on the tree!
For each one, I die cut two of the Damask Snowflake dies -- one from white card stock and one from Holiday Folk patterned paper. I glued the two together, and then punched a hole at the top, where I threaded some of the twine from the kit, to hang the ornament with.
Next, I used the coordinating dies and one of the Holiday Folk patterned papers, to die cut each of the little animal embellishments, popping them up with foam adhesive. Lastly, I topped each animal with a wooden star, also from the kit! These are pretty quick ornaments to put together, and yet they look amazing when hung on the tree!
Here's a closer look at the set...
I also have a super quick and easy set of gift tags for you, using Holiday Folk.
I die cut the Tag Sale #5 die from one of the patterned papers in the kit, added another strip of patterned paper and used the dies again, on pre-printed embellishments, to cut out the trees. Lastly, I added some wooden stars and more twine, both from the kit!
I LOVE using handmade gift tags for our gifts at Christmas, so these will be a great addition to my stash for this year!
Ok, so next up, let's shift gears just a bit. Here's a card I whipped up using the Peaceful Pinecones stamp set, along with one of the sentiments from my new O Holy Night set.
I inked the sentiment with pure poppy ink, and then sponged on some raspberry fizz at the bottom of the sentiment, to create a gradient look. I did the same technique with the pine branches, inking them in ripe avocado and then sponging on some tropical teal. The pinecones were inked with dark chocolate ink, but stamped off once on scratch paper first, to create a softer brown.
For this card, I used Tucked In: Get Well along with Deck the Halls, to create a get well card with a bit of a festive, holiday feel.
The Deck the Halls wreath was die cut from hawaiian shores card stock and stamped with new leaf and ripe avocado inks, and then topped with a pure poppy bow.
The Tucked In: Get Well sentiment was stamped on a center style: masculine die cut and peeking out from the bottom of the card, is the tip of a basic bookmark #2 die cut!
Last project for today, is an Enclosed: Bell gift tag -- this one is a double-layer tag.
For the back layer, I die cut the solid bell from raspberry fizz card stock and then ink blended some red before stamping Background Basics: Sheet Music in pure poppy. The bell clapper was cut from pure poppy card stock. The top layer was cut from white card stock and stamped with a couple of sentiments from Enclosed: Bell and the clapper was die cut from luxe silver card stock. A holly embellishment was created with more stamps and dies from Enclosed: Bell and that finished off this little double-layer tag!
That's it for me today, but I hope you'll stop back by tomorrow! In the meantime, be sure to visit the rest of my teammates to see their Holiday Folk projects too!
