Hello there! It's Countdown time at Papertrey! To kick things off this week, I get the pleasure of helping to introduce you to a new stamp set designed by Betsy Veldman, called Phrases & Praises. You're gonna love this one....gorgeous Bible verses and encouraging sentiments done in beautiful font combinations, most with two-step stamping options so you can stamp them in multiple colors with ease. I decided to use them to create some little watercolored art pieces which can be clipped to a mini clipboard (I got these at Michael's a long time ago) and hung on the wall or displayed on a shelf or whatever. They can be given as gifts (either one or a set of cards to swap out) or can be displayed in your own home to encourage you! So many of the verses in this set are ones that I've clung to over the last couple of years, dealing with my health issues! They have so much meaning to me! These verses can certainly be used to encourage others if you choose to give them away, but they can also encourage YOU, if you display them in your home where you can see them often!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on November 15 at 10pm EST.
I used my Zig watercolor markers and watercolor card stock to create the backdrop for each of these little art pieces. Watercolor card stock is the key to the Zig markers working well....I buy it in pads from Michael's but you can certainly use whatever watercolor card stock you prefer.
I colored on the marker colors, used a water brush to add water and watch the colors blend together and then when it was totally dry, I stamped the sentiment from Phrases and Praises. This one is technically two stamps, but I stamped them both in smokey shadow ink.
Next up, I added my flowers, which just happen to be snowflakes from my new Fab Flakes stamp set!!! I told you some of these snowflakes make darling flowers....! Behind the flowers, I tucked some Spruce & Sprigs die cuts!
For this one, I stamped the sentiment - this one is all one stamp - and heat embossed it with white embossing powder, on watercolor card stock. Then, I used my Zig markers and water brush to add the color over and around the sentiment.
The flowers here, are from Vintage Linens. The centers were heat embossed with white embossing powder. I also tucked a berry sprig from Spruce & Sprigs in the back. I love how versatile those Spruce & Sprigs are! (Here's a little tip for you.....The leaves were stamped with versamark ink, because I wanted them to stay a bit lighter. If you stamp them in new leaf ink on new leaf card stock, the green gets a bit darker. In an effort to match my watercolor a bit better, I kept the leaf color as light as I could and versamark ink was just the ticket.)
For this one, I watercolored first, and then once it was completely dry, I stamped the sentiment (two stamps here) and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.
Next, I added some Bitty Bouquets die cuts. To stamp the flowers, I colored the markers directly on the stamps and then stamped. For the berries, I colored on the stamp with two marker colors and then spritzed them with water to moisten them before stamping. The stems were all stamped with new leaf ink. By using the markers directly on the flowers and berries, I was able to match my watercolor much more closely!
Ok you guys, so you knew this was coming, right? These Phrases & Praises verses were just begging to be stamped on a set of bookmarks! Again, I have to say that so many of these verses have meant so much to me personally, over the last couple of years of being sick so much of the time! But they can be applied to so many situations for so many people. Seriously, make a set of bookmarks to tuck in your own Bible, to pass out to your friends at church, to tuck into Christmas cards you mail out this year, or whatever else you can dream up. I love having these little reminders all around me.....and I'm sure I'm not the only one!
I decided to put a winter spin on these bookmarks and used my new Fab Flakes stamp set, to add to each bookmark, around the verses. I went with the same color combo for all of them (dark chocolate, pure poppy and hawaiian shores) and mixed up the details on each one. I stamped all the sentiments first, and then filled in with the various snowflakes.
Here are a few close-ups....
Here's another card showcasing more of those Fab Flakes. For this one, I stamped and heat embossed the snowflakes first, on watercolor card stock, with white embossing powder. Then, I watercolored the color with my Zig markers and water brush. When that was totally dry, I stamped on a sentiment from my new Tucked In: Sympathy set, with smokey shadow ink.
So often, we just don't know what to say when writing in a sympathy card, so I'm hopeful that these sentiments will be a help to you. Use them on the inside of the card, or on the front as I've done here. The choice is yours!
One more for today......here's a look at my new Enclosed: Present stamps and dies!
I started out by die cutting the solid present from hibiscus burst card stock and then stamped the two line images from Enclosed: Present on that layer -- one vertical and one horizontal -- to create the look of ribbon trim and the box lid. Over the top of the solid present, I added the "For You" frame layer, die cut from white linen card stock. On top of that, I added the die cut bow, which was stamped with pure poppy ink (don't you just love all those loops?!) and between those layers, I added the little die cut gift tag! I stamped one of the sentiments on it, from Enclosed: Present.
Along the bottom of the card, I added a few strips of paper, including one that was die cut with the heart border die, to create the scallops.
That's it for me today, but you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady & Betsy Veldman for lots more sneak peeks. Heather Nichols, Erin Lincoln, Maile Belles & Lizzie Jones will have peeks at their new products as well.
Have a great day and I'll see you back here tomorrow!
