Hi there!
Time for the first Papertrey Group Post of the month! Today, we're showcasing a gorgeous new collection of products designed by Nichole Heady, called Winter Woods, as well as my new Fab Flakes stamps and dies.
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on November 15 at 10pm EST.
To get things started, I've got a pair of Winter Woods cards to show you....man, these birds are lovely and I love that you can create so many different scenes for them to nestle into. And bonus, each bird can be created with just two stamps! I decided to go with a bit of a fall theme on this first card. I used one of the new Winter Woods patterned papers -- that's the orange strip you see peeking out on the right. I stamped the large branch from Winter Woods in soft stone ink on some linen card stock and then I used the little cluster of three berries to stamp all of those little berries in canyon clay ink. I stamped it again and again, sometimes not re-inking between stamping, to kind of create something that reminds me of bittersweet.
I added a strip of the new stormy sea card stock on the right and popped that whole panel up on the Winter Woods patterned paper panel, before adhering the whole thing to my card front. I stamped the "love you" from Winter Woods in stormy sea ink. I die cut two of the Winter Woods birds and stamped them in tropical teal and stormy sea inks.
For this card, I wanted a winter twist...
...so I grabbed another of the Winter Woods patterned papers but this time, I stamped a few Fab Flakes snowflakes up at the top and then added glitter to all of the little snow dots on the patterned paper. I love that bit of sparkle that really shines in real life!
The redbird was stamped with pure poppy and smokey shadow inks and the hawaiian shores branch, was stamped with stormy sea ink. Finally, I added the sentiment from Winter Woods, in stormy sea.
I also thought I'd give you a closer look at Fab Flakes today, so how about a few more snowflake-y cards? :)
For this one, I stamped the snowflakes all over a white panel, and then added a piece of vellum over the top.
The sentiment is from Holiday Thanks, and that strip of card stock allowed me to hide the vellum adhesive as well!
For this one, I wanted the snowflakes to be white on kraft, but I also wanted them to sparkle. I realize you can't really see the sparkles all that well in the photos, but this is so glittery in real life! Let me tell you how I achieved this look and spare you the 5 or 6 trial runs it took me to figure out how to create the look I was after! Haha!
I heat embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder. Next, I stamped them again, right over the top, with more versamark ink and then sprinkled on some old heat & stick powder I got from Stampin' Up! probably 7 or 8 years ago. I hit that with the heat gun and then sprinkled on some glitter. I set it one more time with the heat gun and the result is super sparkly AND bright white snowflakes! Haha!
I trimmed out the snowflake on the main panel by hand, and then added a die cut snowflake on top. The "With sympathy" is from Keep It Simple: Sympathy....
.....and inside, I added one of the new Tucked In: Sympathy sentiments as well as some dark chocolate Fab Flakes that were stamped off once first, to lighten the dark chocolate ink a bit.
For this card, I stamped Fab Flakes snowflakes as though they are falling down from the top of an aqua mist panel, and then cut that panel into two pieces.
I added the "A Winter Hello" sentiment from Fab Flakes with tropical teal ink, and then spritzed on some Calico Shine spray from Studio Calico to make the snowflakes shimmery. Once the card stock was dry, I adhered it to a tropical teal card base with a bit of foam adhesive and lastly, I popped on some adhesive pearls to the snowflake centers.
And one more snowflake card for you......yes, I said snowflakes!! :) I used several of the Fab Flakes images, to create these layered flowers! I just paired them with leaves from Vintage Linens and voila! More mileage out of your snowflake set!
The sentiment is one from Ruby Rose.
I used some Tim Holtz inks for the flower colors (because I really wanted to incorporate that honey color and I love how well these inks all work with that particular color), however when I stamp with them, they tend to be too juicy to get an image that isn't kind of splotchy. They're awesome inks for blending because of that juiciness, but I find that they're a bit too juicy for detail stamping. Anyway, the solution is to just use your ink blending tools to sponge on the ink! This also allows you to add multiple colors, like I did on the pink/red flower.
Just below the flowers, I added a strip of luxe gold adhesive sheet card stock....just peel and stick! Easy! And behind that, is a strip of bitty dot vellum paper.
Be sure and bop around to visit the rest of the girls on the team to check out their Winter Woods projects!
