Hello there! Well, today is a day that I'm pretty excited about because I get to introduce you to my newest stamp set -- Peonies on Parade! It's an outline floral set, so you colorers are sure to have a ton of fun with this one! And if coloring isn't your thing, don't write this set off just yet.....I'm gonna show you a few ways to use it without having to color! :) Oh, and the best part? It's just $15!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on February 15 at 10pm EST.
One thing I did a lot with these big fluffy peonies, is watercolor them with my Zig markers. They're just so fun to watercolor and you can create so many different color combos and looks! For this first one, I decided to create a set of aqua flowers because....why not?! I wanted to go with a yellow/aqua/brown color combo, so I even colored the leaves brown, to keep with that color combo.
I die cut the flowers from watercolor paper and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. The leaves were heat embossed on more watercolor paper, that served as the backdrop and I added a few dots of yellow marker ink that I dabbed with a bit more water from my water brush, to add some additional pops of yellow here and there. The sentiment is from the previously released A Cheerful Heart stamp set.
Now, for you non-colorers, here's a way you can still use these fun flowers! See all of these leaves and flowers? They were all cut from WHITE card stock. I simply inked them with my ink blending tools! It's so easy to do....just sponge on the color! Plus, you can get some cool variegated looks this way.
Not only that, but my blenders are pretty saturated with ink, so I literally just had to kind of press the ink onto the card stock and blammo! They were colored! In just a few minutes! Then, I just stamped coordinating colors of ink on top, with the corresponding images.
This sentiment is made from three stamps in the new Inspired: Savior stamp set by Betsy Veldman! She and Nichole will have lots more info for you about that today! As we head off to Mayo Clinic today, I keep this sentiment close to my heart! (see previous post, if you missed that little update.)
Here's another for you non-colorers! Ok, so I have to tell you that this card came together in maybe 15 minutes tops! I'd seen some black/white art on Pinterest, that inspired this card. I stamped the images from Peonies on Parade and then just filled in some shading with a Prismacolor pencil! (link below)
It seriously couldn't have been easier and was super fun too! The chalkboard love is still going strong over here!! :)
The sentiment I used is one from Thank You Kindly.
Ok, so first, let me tell you about the flower and leaves, which were colored with Zigs and a water brush. Again, I heat embossed them on watercolor paper with white embossing powder.
Now, how about that background?! Can you see how it's textured? It almost looks a little flocked! I used one of the new stencils that Betsy Veldman has come out with this month, called Modern Background Stencils! Yep, I said stencils! I mixed three ink colors with three blobs of molding paste (link below) and once each color was blended, I scraped it right over the top of the stencil, which was laid on a piece of stamper's select white card stock. I used a painter's spatula to scrape each color on, blending the next color over the edge of the previous color. When the entire stencil/card stock was covered, I pulled it straight up and off, and set the paper aside to dry. An hour later, it was totally dry and ready to craft with.
The HUGS die cut is from the Big Hugs die collection.
This month, I'm also excited that we're bringing you Peonies on Parade coloring pages -- again, both in watercolor paper and stamper's select white card stock. So, whether you prefer to color with Copics, pencils, etc. or you want to watercolor, there's an option for you! And once again, these coloring pages are perfectly sized to be used on a card front! So all of the stamping placement guess-work has already been done for you! All you have to do is color them up and pop them on a card! Of course, you can cut them and layer them and embellish them too. It's up to you, how you want to use them! But it's nice when you want a quick card, to just color, add your sentiment and you're done!
For this card, I colored a bunch of blue/green flowers....clearly I'm on a kick with blue flowers this month! Haha! Actually, this paper reminds me of vintage fabric, for some reason. Anyway, I stamped a sentiment from Thank You Kindly and popped the colored paper on the front of an aqua mist card base. I added a frame that was cut with the new Cover Plate: Pretty Frame die, by Erin Lincoln. More details from Nichole on that today, too!
Here's a quick card for you.....I just watercolored, stamped the "Happy" from Birthday Cheer and then popped on a coordinating Birthday Cheer die cut.
Seriously, if you just sit and color in front of the tv some night, you'll have a stack of these card fronts just waiting to be popped together! Easy peasy!
And here's one more for you.....I also used a Peonies on Parade watercolor page here, but this time, I die cut it with one of the Sentiment Splits dies and then used a sentiment from the coordinating stamp set, to finish it off.
Oh, and did you notice that new yellow card stock?!! Yep, check out Nichole's blog for all the details on Bright Buttercup!
This card is my nod to my absolute favorite peonies -- the Coral Charm peonies! They're STUNNING in real life -- I've only ever had them once, because I've only ever seen them anywhere around here once! My hubby knows how much I love them and brought them home from Whole Foods for me one day. I cried. :) They start out as a really bright pink with yellow centers, and as their color fades, they turn a lovely coral shade that just keeps getting lighter and lighter. My favorite is when they're bright pink though!! (I know you could have guessed that.) ;)
All right, friends, I'm off but I'll see you tomorrow!
For today, you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady for lots more peeks and to see which of the other designers have posts to share today!
What do you think of Peonies on Parade? Are you a colorer? An anti-colorer? I'd love to hear!
