Hi there!
Happy March 1!! I know I say this every month, but good golly, this year is flying by! It's time for the Senior Design Team challenge at Papertrey and this month, we're focusing on Fancy Folk Art! The fun thing about these posts each month, is pulling out an older set and seeing how it will pair with newer released items. In this case, I had fun playing with the new Modern Background Stencils and pairing them with Fancy Folk Art!
How about that texture on the background?!!! Ok, first let me warn you....USE CAUTION WHEN TRYING THIS TECHNIQUE! I ran the card base through my vagabond with one of the new modern background stencils and the embossing pads. I did achieve amazingly detailed texture on my card front, but I also COMPLETELY WARPED my top cutting plate! If you attempt embossing with the stencils, go slow so that you don't wreck your die cutting machine! I will need to play around with this a bit more, to see what is the perfect sandwich for my machine, so as to not wreck any more cutting plates. But, if you can get just the right amount of pressure in your own machine (they're each calibrated a bit differently), then you can achieve beautiful embossed results like this....hopefully without destroying any cutting plates or your machine! :)
As you can see, I also did some ink blending down behind the flowers. Once the embossing is done, the raised edges are what catches the ink when you're blending, which makes for an even cooler two-tone effect!
I used several of the little flowers from Fancy Folk Art to create a little floral cluster and then hand cut the sentiment pieces from the set.
For this card, I used another of the modern background stencils, this time with just some simple ink blending in the same colors I was using for the flowers.
The sentiment is another from Fancy Folk Art, stamped this time, all in one piece.
The ink blending really is so fast and easy with these stencils....just a minute or two with each color and you're done! And how fun is that background, when paired with the Fancy Folk Art flowers?!
The other girls on the team, all have Fancy Folk Art projects to share with you today too, so be sure to visit each one!
