Hello there, friends! I'm excited to be able to share some projects with you today, for the first of this month's Group Posts at Papertrey! I'm sorry to have missed the first couple days of Countdown fun, but we just got back from Mayo Clinic and I've been settling back in here at home and am still recovering from surgery a few weeks ago. Anyway, enough about me....let's get right to the projects!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on March 15 at 10pm EST.
For this first card, I combined lots of new goodies!! Firstly, allow me to share one of the sentiments from my new stamp set being released this month, called Ombré Sentiments: Birthday!! I inked the top half of the sentiment with raspberry fizz ink and the bottom half with pure poppy. The set consists of several birthday sentiments, all done in this same style and the best part is, you could use any of these on the inside of your cards too! Bonus!
I used the new Just Desserts stamp set by Lizzie Jones, to create that darling birthday cake, complete with strawberry topping (Oh, and the stems are stamped with the new Green Parakeet color!) and then added a couple of new die cuts, designed by Erin Lincoln -- Big Birthday Candles dies and one of the Frosted Border dies! For the birthday candle, I die cut it from three different colors and then pieced them all together. For those of you that have been reading this blog for very long, can you believe that Ally, our first niece on my side of the family, is now EIGHT years old?!! How in the world did that happen?!
Anyway, the hawaiian shores strip is what I die cut with the Frosted Border die, which is a collection of dies designed to look like cake frosting! How fun is that?!
I used that same die here, to create a really striking focal point! I die cut the frosting 8 times, using ombré colors and did some ombré ink blending on the white card stock behind the die cuts.
At the top of the card, I added another of the new sentiments from Ombré Sentiments: Birthday. Another cool thing about these sentiments is that, even if you choose to stamp them all in one color, you still kind of get the effect of ombré, thanks to the design of the stamps! The work has already been done for you!
One more before I go......I created a fun little birthday tag to coordinate with a Target gift bag I had on hand. I used a bookmark die to cut out two layers for the tag -- one summer sunrise layer that I can write to the recipient on, and the top layer is cut from watercolor card stock.
For the sentiment, I inked it with three colors. It's so easy, I didn't even have to fiddle with masking! I just inked up the "middle" of the stamp with orange zest ink. Then, I wiped the top off a bit (so as to not get orange ink on my yellow ink pad) and then inked the top with summer sunrise, and the bottom with raspberry fizz! The lines are spaced just enough that you can get a gradient color look, without having to fuss too much with being super precise! I love no muss, no fuss. Don't you? ;)
As for the bottom of the tag, I used a new stamp set designed by Erin Lincoln called Sprinkles on Top! The set contains sprinkle border designs, but it also contains lots of little groupings of various types of sprinkles, which I used here to create my own little cluster at the bottom of the tag. I heat embossed them with white embossing powder and then colored them in with Zig markers and a bit of water. So fun! Sprinkles in any color you want!
All right, I'm off for now, but you'll want to be sure to visit Nichole Heady and the rest of the girls on the team, to see their SWEET projects!
