Hello there! It's time for the Papertrey April Countdown and today, I get to help introduce you to a few new products including the Paper Clippings: Thank You stamps and dies by Betsy Veldman and the Cover Plate: Delightful die by Erin Lincoln!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on April 15 at 10pm EST.
To get things started, I did some ink blending on a piece of white card stock with five colors....bright buttercup, green parakeet, hawaiian shores, the NEW! amethyst allure and berry sorbet. When you do this sort of blending, where you're going to be die-cutting from the blended card stock, you don't have to be super careful or fussy with it. Just lay down the color with your ink blending tools and don't worry too much about it. You just want to make sure that you blend clear to the edges of where the die will actually be cutting. When you're cutting out such intricate pieces, it's very forgiving of any imperfections in your blending! You don't have to be a blending professional to give this technique a try!! :)
After the blending was done, I die cut the Paper Clippings: Thank You from the blended card stock, as well as three other white layers. I used spray adhesive, to spray glue on the back of each layer and stacked them all up, adhering them all to a panel of bitty dot vellum. Then, I used some tombow mono-adhesive to put glue on the back of the vellum layer, being careful to only glue behind the letters, so the glue wouldn't show thru the vellum. Then, the vellum was adhered to the white card base. That's it! Pretty easy card, really, but I love the results of all that ink blending! (I linked the adhesives below, so you can see exactly what I used.)
Next up, I wanted to create an ombre effect on the Paper Clippings: Thank You stamp, so I inked it with three different purples.....winter wisteria at the top, amethyst allure in the middle and plum pudding at the bottom. After tapping the ink pads directly onto the stamp, I used an ink blending tool, to tap-tap-tap the ink between each color, to help the blend be nice and subtle. Next, I stamped the companion sentiment "For all you do", also in plum pudding ink.
I added a few other flower & bird images from Paper Clippings: Thank You, around the sentiment and then over on the right, I added two little strips of scallops that I cut off the bottom of the large Paper Clippings: Thank You die cut, to create a little side border! Since those little borders are so teeny, I held them with tweezers and sprayed adhesive on the back. That made it super simple to adhere them. The whole thing was layered on an amethyst allure card base.
Next, I paired both Paper Clippings: Thank You stamps and dies with the new Cover Plate: Delightful die, which is another detailed frame die from Erin Lincoln. I cut the frame from luxe gold card stock. In order for the Paper Clippings: Thank You sentiment to fit inside the frame, I simply removed the smaller portion from inside this outer portion of the frame, and was able to heat emboss the large sentiment from Paper Clippings: Thank You with clear embossing powder. Before adding the frame, I distressed the edges of the hawaiian shores layer just a bit, by sponging on some vintage tea dye ink in chai.
I also added some die cut flowers and leaves from Paper Clippings: Thank You. On the leaves, I used green parakeet card stock and sponged on a little new leaf ink on the tips, before stamping them with new leaf ink and the coordinating leaf image. It just gives them a bit of added depth. And lastly, I added some gold "Sprinkles" adhesive dots from Doodlebug Design Inc., to the flower centers. This is the first time I've used these, but I love how sparkly they are! I've linked them below, in case you want to get some for yourself. ;)
Remember how I removed the inner portion of the Cover Plate: Delightful frame, on the previous card? I used just that portion here, to add a smaller frame for my sentiment and flowers. There is a second die that comes with the Cover Plate: Delightful die, and I used it to due cut the hawaiian shores strip at the top, and layered it right over the gold card stock.
Next, I used the Painted Petals stamps and dies, to add the flowers and and sentiment. I love that stamp set! Remember, that's this year's anniversary set that you can earn for free! Just click the link in the supply list below, to read all the details.
All right friends, that's it for me today! Be sure to visit Nichole Heady, Betsy Veldman & Danielle Flanders for lots more sneak peeks. Erin Lincoln, Maile Belles & Lizzie Jones will have peeks at their new products as well.
