Hi there!
Welcome back for this month's first Papertrey Group Post! I have LOTS to show you because today, we're featuring my new Floral Sketches stamp set as well as the new Calligraphy Classics stamp set, designed by Nichole Heady. These flowers are one of those sets that once you get started stamping, you kinda can't stop! Haha! So, I've got gobs to show you.....you might want to get comfy and maybe even grab a drink! ;) I've paired both Floral Sketches and Calligraphy Classics on this first card!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on May 15 at 10pm EST.
The sentiment is one from Calligraphy Classics, that I stamped in scarlet jewel ink and then I added lots of flowers and leaves from Floral Sketches around it, in a fun color combo inspired by a vintage table cloth in my family room! The flowers are from a single cluster image that I simply stamped three times to frame the sentiment, first in berry sorbet ink and then topped with the sketched detail lines in pure poppy. The leaves were stamped with hawaiian shores ink, and then I used the new Americana ink, to add the veins. A strip of pure poppy card stock finished this one off!
There are also some Floral Sketches paper collections coming your way this month.....first is a patterned paper collection.
And there are also Floral Sketches coloring pages for both regular coloring and watercolor. These feature some pretty grays on them, which are a fun twist from previous coloring pages I've done.
The nice thing about these coloring pages is that even if you aren't a colorer, you can use them as you would any other patterned paper. Here, I've layered some Floral Sketches die cut flowers on top of one of the pages, for a fun twist...
I added the die cut flowers right over the top of the images on the coloring sheet and stamped the sentiment from Floral Sketches, on the sheet as well.
I should note that I stamped the sentiment as well as the sketched lines on the pure poppy flower, with the new Americana ink!
On this card, I pulled out some luxe silver card stock and patterned paper for a bit of shine. I stamped the veins on the leaves, with versamark ink, which makes the veins super shiny! You just want to be careful not to touch those veins after you've stamped them, or you'll get a nice finger smudge. ;)
Also, see those teeny flowers up at the top of the card? They are all one stamp with that cluster of star-shaped flowers. However, they're not part of the die....this allows you to stamp it directly on the card base, as well as your die cut, for some added dimension. It also allows for a bit more versatility with that particular die, should you decide to use it without those tiny flowers.
This sentiment is another from Floral Sketches....I love what a perfect fit it is with the flowers, on this luxe silver patterned paper.
For this one, I stamped the Floral Sketches sentiment on a strip of aqua mist card stock and added it over the top of a watercolored background I created with my Zig markers. Stay tuned for an upcoming Make It Monday video, where I share my process for creating that background!! :)
The great thing about these Floral Sketches flowers is that you stamp the solid layer and then the 'sketched' lines go over the top, but you can be a bit relaxed as to the EXACT placement, which gives them that sketched look. Here's a tip for you though, because I know some of you will want to know exactly how I line them up. See the largest flower above? And see the large round petal that's pointing up? That one and it's corresponding sketched lines, are what I look for on every flower. Even though the flowers are slightly different shapes, there's that one petal on each flower that pretty much only fits those sketch lines so just find those two and then stamp away. Just remember....they don't have to be exact....they're sketchy! ;)
Next up, I made a fun discovery when playing around with these flowers! Floral Sketches is a perfect set, for creating a watercolored look, simply by stamping the images on watercolor card stock with your Papertrey inks and then adding some water! Here, I started out by stamping the sentiment with versamark ink and then heat embossing it with gold embossing powder. Then, I stamped the flowers in melon berry/berry sorbet and amethyst allure/winter wisteria. Finally, I stamped the leaves in autumn rose/scarlet jewel. Once everything was stamped, I took a water brush and simply brushed clean water over the images. I started out by tracing over the detail lines and then filled in every where else with water as well. The result is a soft watercolored look that I just love!
I couldn't resist trying it again, with some of the other images from the set....
So here, I stamped several of the flower images in aqua mist ink, topped with new leaf details. The leaves were stamped with new leaf and ripe avocado inks. Next, I added water and the end result is just a softer, watercolored version of the original stamping! When it was dry, I added a gold heat embossed sentiment, from the new Colorful Words stamp set by Erin Lincoln.
I can't even tell you how pretty this card is in real life.....it totally looks like something you could buy at a fancy boutique!
So next up, I paired the new Garden Garland dies that Nichole designed, with the Walk by Faith stamp set that Heather designed, and added some Floral Sketches flowers on top!
I did a bit of ink blending on the card base as well as on the tips of the garland leaves. The Walk by Faith sentiment was stamped in ripe avocado ink.
That flower petal I told you to look for up earlier -- it's the one pointing to the left in the photo above. It's a bit chubbier and rounder than the others. Haha!
For this one, I paired some die cut Floral Sketches flowers with Betsy's new Inspired: Praise stamps and dies.
I die cut the flowers from colored card stock and then stamped the layers on top. I love how that can totally change the look of the flowers.
I did a little ink blending with some Ranger ink on the sentiment and I also added a strip of washi from my stash (an old one from Target), to accent the sentiment. And actually, I'll let you in on a little secret.....the washi is just some that I have out on my desk to help hold die cuts in place when I run them thru the die cutting machine, because it's not a color I'd reach for otherwise. But the more I kept looking at it, the more I knew I wanted to use it on a card and so I dug thru my ink stash to find one that would match and voila! A card is born! Haha!
Next up, this card features some simple stamping.....just flowers, leaves and a sentiment, all from Floral Sketches! I love the color combo for all the flowers....amethyst allure topped with blueberry sky details and I even added some winter wisteria centers on the larger flowers!
Lastly, the sentiment was stamped in plum pudding ink.
Ok, one more for you and if you've made it this far, you deserve a prize! For this one, I stamped the flowers and leaves so that they're peeking out from behind the sentiment panel....this is a really fun way to stamp your florals and you don't even have to worry that they're overlapping behind the sentiment!
I used another cheery color combo here....I'm telling you, I've had so much fun stamping these flowers! I hope I've given you a bit of inspiration today! But of course, my dear teammates have lots more to show you featuring Floral Sketches and Calligraphy Classics, so be sure to visit each one!
