Hi there!
Welcome back for another fun Papertrey Group Post! I have to say that I had more fun making these cards than any in a long time! We're showcasing a new stamp set and coordinating dies by Maile Belles, called Tropics, as well as the Some Like It Hot stamps and dies by Nichole Heady. These two sets pair together beauuuuutifully!! They make mixing and matching so. much. fun. I'm not even kidding! Haha. Have I gushed enough about the fun? :) Let's get to the projects!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on July 15 at 10pm EST.
First up is a thank you note featuring the adorable flamingo image from Some Like It Hot, as well as the brilliant hibiscus images from the set. Behind the flowers, I added lots of leaves from Tropics.
For the flamingos, I wanted a bit of an ombre look to the pinks, because I was remembering how gorgeous their pink colors are in real life! We saw them at the San Diego Zoo once and I couldn't get enough! They're such stunning birds, so I was trying to bring a bit of that to these little stamped ladies. (What is it about flamingos, that just makes me assume they're all "ladies"? Haha!)
To get the gradient color for their bodies, I inked them first with pale peony ink and then before stamping, sponged hibiscus burst ink on the bottom bit of their bodies. Then, I stamped the wing in berry sorbet, followed by their legs and beak/eye all in smokey shadow.
For the large flower, I stamped the solid layer in berry sorbet ink, followed by the shadowing in raspberry fizz and the center in pure poppy. The small flower is hibiscus burst, topped with raspberry fizz and then pure poppy.
The "thanks" sentiment is from the Tropics stamp set.
For this card, I used the large two-step leaf image from Tropics, to stamp the background and then topped it with a strip of new leaf card stock and another sentiment from the Tropics set.
I also added a couple more die cut Tropics leaves, as well as a die cut pineapple from Some Like It Hot, and another hibiscus bloom. If you've followed me on Instagram or Twitter, you know that we currently have three tropical hibiscus plants blooming on our back deck, and a hardy hibiscus planted in the yard, and we're anxiously awaiting it's 55 (or so) blooms to start busting open! So I kinda want to add these stamped hibiscus blooms to like EVERYTHING! Haha! I love hibiscus!
Go see what each of the girls on the team have whipped up with these fun sets! I can't wait to see everyone's projects myself!
