Hello there! Welcome back for Day 2 of the Papertrey Countdown! Today, I get to help introduce you to some new products by some of the other designers, including Fancy Foliage and the Fancy Foliage Details dies by Maile Belles and the Inspired: Blessed stamps and dies by Betsy Veldman.
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on August 15 at 10pm EST.
I'm telling you, I can't stop using this new color....I've used it on nearly every card for today! :) It's a fun one. It's so perfect for fall, too! But just look how well it pairs with brights! You know, that's why I love it so....
Anyway, I die cut a circle from some watercolor card stock and then stamped small images from Fancy Foliage around the circle with versamark ink, and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I also used one of the Fancy Foliage dies to cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment from more watercolor card stock, and stamped and heat embossed that as well. Next came the fun part.....adding color with my Zig markers and a water brush. A little tip for you when watercoloring like this: After stamping and watercoloring one color, move on to the next color, allowing the first one to dry a bit. After it's dry, you can go back in and layer on a bit more color in various places, followed by more water to blend it out. By adding color in layers (after each layer is dry), you'll be able to achieve a lot more depth and dimension with your watercolor.
So, Maile has also come out with the Fancy Foliage DETAILS dies, which are larger versions of those same foliage images, but these dies have all the little details that get cut out. They're larger scale than the stamps, so you can't stamp on these....you just use them as is to create wreaths, frames and accents of all sorts. I used lots of them here, to create a bit of a frame around another of the sentiments from my New Every Morning stamp set.
I inked the sentiment with three different ink colors before stamping, to create the gradient effect.
I love this color combo of pale peony, berry sorbet and the new saffron spice. Oh, to adhere the foliage, I used bits of foam adhesive behind some and just sprayed others with spray adhesive, which made it easy to leave some of the little bits and pieces in place.
For this card, I stamped some of the little images from Fancy Foliage on watercolor card stock with tropical teal, cocoa bean and saffron spice inks and then used my water brush to go over them and smudge out the details. Then, I went back in with some Zig markers to add a bit of shading, before blending out again with more water. I also used a marker and water, to add the color all over the background.
I used the Inspired: Blessed die, to cut out two layers of the word "blessed" and layered them slightly off-set, to create a bit of a shadow. Once the background was dry, I stamped a companion sentiment from Inspired: Blessed to finish things off.
One more for today.....here, I pulled out one of the Floral Sketches patterned papers and die cut a circle from the center. The paper was adhered to a white card base, and I stamped a couple of the companion sentiments from Inspired: Blessed directly on the card base. I also stamped one of the sentiments on a separate strip that was popped up with foam adhesive.
Lastly, I added a "THANKS" sentiment from Boutique Borders: Thanks, to finish things off.
OK friends, I'm off for now, but there's lots more inspiration for you. Be sure to visit Nichole Heady, Melissa Phillips, Danielle Flanders, and Amy Sheffer for lots more sneak peeks. Betsy Veldman, Heather Nichols, Kay Miller, Erin Lincoln, Maile Belles, Lizzie Jones and Lexi Daly will have peeks at their new sets as well.
I also wanted to say thank you so much, for all your sweet comments yesterday, regarding Bible journaling and my New Every Morning stamp set! I'm so humbled that so many of you were blessed by that post and inspired to maybe do a bit of Bible journaling/stamping of your own and I so appreciated hearing how special those verses are to so many of you. I know they mean so much to me.
Grateful for you!
