Hi there!
We've got another fun Papertrey Group Post for you today! This time, we're shining the spotlight on a couple of new stamp sets -- Winter Village by Betsy and Christmas Critters and Sentiments by Nichole. I wanted to start things off with the Winter Village project because it totally reminds me of my all time favorite Christmas movie, White Christmas.
One of my favorite Christmas traditions from my childhood is still going strong, not only in our home, but I'm pretty sure in every one of my siblings' homes as well. We watched the classic movie, White Christmas every year....EVERY year, without fail. We watched it when it came on tv once a year during the holiday season, we also got the VHS tape from the library and watched it on repeat for a week until it was due back and years later, as soon as the DVD came out, I bought one at lightening speed. :) Now, we still have the DVD (as a backup! HA!) and we have it recorded on the DVR, which as I type, is playing on the TV. It's actually been on repeat this week along with a host of other Christmas movies, while I've been happily Christmas-crafting away. Bartley and I will watch it again all November and December as we celebrate Christmas. Like I said, it's my all-time favorite, closely followed by Christmas Vacation! Hahaha.
Anyway, the new Winter Village stamp set totally reminds me of White Christmas.....can't you just see the four of them sitting in the booth of the dining car on the train on their way to Vermont, singing "snow, snow, snow, snow, snowwwwww....."?? :) Ahhh......love. So many years of happy memories with this movie!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on September 15 at 10pm EST.
So for my card, I used lots of images from Winter Village to create this snowy little scene. I mixed in some snow drifts created with the In the Meadow dies and did a little aqua mist ink blending on the layers before stamping some of the snow drifts from Winter Village. The house and church have extra little snow drift die cuts added to the top, also from the Winter Village die set -- those may be my favorite part about the whole set! So clever!
The sentiment is from Winter Village.....man, it reminds me of White Christmas! Love those vintage fonts!
Along the bottom of the card, I added a Holiday Greens Borders die cut, from hawaiian shores card stock and stamped in olive twist ink.
And here's a card featuring Christmas Critters. I used the Noted: Scalloped A2 die to cut the card front and stamped a sentiment from the companion Christmas Critters Sentiments set.
I die cut a circle with one of the Limitless Layers dies and stamped it with the large circle image from Christmas Critters, inking it up in three different colors and stamping repeatedly with my MISTI to get the pretty, ombré effect. I layered it on a tag sale die cut and then added a variety of die cut images, all from Christmas Critters. I stamped the little gray mouse with smokey shadow ink, stamping it off once, before stamping it on the die cut. Then, I stamped his inner ears in full-strength smokey shadow.
All right, that's it for me today, but be sure to visit each of my friends to check out their projects!
