Hi there!
Back again for one more exciting Papertrey Group Post! We're featuring Betsy's new What the Doodle: Ornament stamps and dies, Erin's new Stitched Ornaments dies, and my new Vintage Ornaments II stamp set and dies!! So many of you made my original Vintage Ornaments stamps so popular....you've used them on projects again and again over the years, which makes my heart so happy! Ever since they were released in 2009 (my first year as a stamp designer!), I've had ideas brewing for a second edition of this set and I'm over-the-moon to finally be bringing it to you this year! I love, LOVE this new set because of all the options it affords you! Whether you like to color or hate it, there are images in this set to allow you to create these ornaments to your little heart's content! Use the outline images with any coloring medium of your choice, or skip the outline images and use the multi-step solid images to simply stamp your ornaments and go!
Maybe you've seen over the years, but I collect vintage ornaments. They seriously make my heart beat a little faster. Those old-school shiny brites in all different bright colors....gah! I can't resist them! I even have a couple of large apothecary jars filled with a variety of pink ones that I keep on the shelf in the studio year-round, because they're just too pretty to put away! So, it was with thoughts of all my ornament treasures in mind, that I created this fun new stamp set and I hope you'll fall in love with it as much as I have!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on September 15 at 10pm EST.
For this first card, I paired one of the new Holiday Greens Borders images with a couple of the outline ornaments. Let me just interject that the Holiday Greens and Holiday Greens Borders sets are a match made in heaven for these Vintage Ornaments II!! You can pair them in a million different ways!
Here, I stamped the border in hawaiian shores ink on watercolor card stock, to give it a bit of a blue spruce feel and then went over it with a water brush to smudge out the lines a bit. I love how soft and sweet this looks.
Next, I die cut a couple of the ornaments from Vintage Ornaments II, also from watercolor card stock, and then colored them with my Zigs and a water brush.
The Joy to the World sentiment was stamped with flourishes and a sentiment from the new Fancy Pants: Holiday and under that, I added one of the sentiments from the new Keep It Simple: Happy Holidays.
Next up, is a stitched ornament that I made using Erin's new Stitched Ornaments: Classics dies. I intended to show you how cute this would be as a gift topper, but I hung it on the little tree and loved it so much that I don't think I'll use it as a gift topper at all. I think I'll hang this baby on our big tree this Christmas! Haha. So much for sharing... Haha!
All three of the layers here, were cut out with dies included in the Stitched Ornaments: Classics die set. I just cut out two sets of each. I stitched the snowflake detail first and then stitched each little stack of three pieces together, before stitching both stacks of three together back-to-back. Does that make sense? Essentially, I created two of what you see in the photo above, and then stitched them back to back, to create a double-sided ornament. See below...
Here, you can kind of see how both sides match each other. I really enjoyed putting this little ornament together. You could also add a little polyfil to the center, to make the ornament a bit puffy, if you wanted.
One more for today.....for this card, I used Betsy's new What the Doodle: Ornament stamps and dies. I layered the ornament on a Basic Bookmark 2 die cut and cut the ornament from watercolor card stock so I could watercolor it with my zigs.
The branch and sentiment are also from What the Doodle: Ornament. The cover plate: quatrefoil die was used to emboss the olive twist card base, to finish things off.
Ok, friends....so I intended to show you lots of Vintage Ornaments II projects today, but I've been super sick again, for the last couple days, so I'm sorry this was all I could get ready in time for today's post. I'll be sure to show you some more projects with the set in the coming days, if I can.
But in the meantime, the whole team will be sharing Vintage Ornaments II projects with you today, as well as all the other new ornament products, so be sure to visit each one! I'm so excited for you to see this set in action!!
