Hello there! It's time for the Papertrey April Countdown and this month, there is so much fun stuff coming your way....I can't wait for you to see it all! For today, I get to help introduce you to the new Pen & Ink sentiment stamp set designed by Nichole Heady, as well as the newest addition to the Mix & Mat die series by Betsy Veldman. This month, it's Mix & Mat: Scallops....I can see myself using this set over and over.....and over again!
I'm also gonna be showing you some peeks at the new stamp sets and dies I have coming out this month, so keep an eye out for those! Today, I'll be showing you tiny bits and pieces from my new Gran's Garden stamp & die collection. I am beyond excited about this one....you know me and flowers! Already, I can't stop using these! They're fun ones!
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on April 15 at 10pm EST.
Anyhoooo, enough of my chatter! Let's get to the good stuff, shall we? :)
For this first card, I used the lacey die from the Mix & Mat: Scallops collection to cut out layers of copy paper, to create the look of pre-cut, store-bought paper doilies. Then, I stacked up the layers with a bit of adhesive and then die cut them with one of the oval dies from the Noted die collection. I also used the dashed rectangle die from the same new Mix & Mat die collection, to cut the frame into the card front.
For the sentiment, I used one from the new Pen & Ink stamp set and topped everything off with a few die cut flowers from Gran's Garden! (Doesn't that just sound cute?! Hahaha!)
One fun little thing to note about the flowers in Gran's Garden is that they are multi-step in slightly different ways. I used the same ink colors on both of the flowers you see here -- aqua mist, hawaiian shores & tropical teal -- however on the smaller flower, the hawaiian shores layer gets stamped in an open space on the flower. Whereas on the back flower, the hawaiian shores layer gets stamped over the top of the aqua mist layer, giving you the ability to layer those ink colors and create slightly deeper colors. Fun!
For this next card, I used two of the Mix & Mat: Scallops dies to cut out a watercolor card stock layer. I used my zig markers and a water brush to lay down some watercolor and when that was dry, I stamped another of the sentiments from Pen & Ink.
You might notice the bit of bitty dot paper peeking out at the top and the bottom.....that's from a new tag die collection I have coming out this month. Stay tuned for lots more info about that tomorrow! I cut this particular tag in half and used part of it at the top and the other part at the bottom of the watercolored portion.
Behind it all, I used the woodgrain metal stencil to emboss the card front.
And of course, I couldn't resist adding a couple of little accents from Gran's Garden. I'm telling you, just wait till the day when this set is officially introduced. I'm really trying to restrain myself, until then! Hahaha!
Here's one more for you.....this one using all the same new products as on the first two cards.
This time, I used that lacey die to emboss a strip directly into the card base. The die is shorter than the width of the card, so I just ran it through my machine twice -- one on each side of the card front.
I stamped a white panel with images from Gran's Garden but really wanted my sentiment -- from Pen & Ink -- to really pop when stamped over the top. To achieve that, I layered a piece of vellum on top, and stamped the sentiment on the vellum. This muted the colors on the floral panel, while still keeping lots of interest there. To adhere the vellum, I heat set the ink first, and then just added tiny dots of liquid glue directly behind the black lettering, so the glue isn't visible at all.
Lastly, behind the white layer is a piece of hibiscus burst card stock that was cut with the two largest dies from Mix & Mat: Scallops. I love that little scalloped/dashed layer. It so simple and sweet but adds so much detail! And the great thing about this collection is that you can use either of those dies separately, or together like I did here. Options are good. :)
All right, that's it for me today, but be sure to visit Nichole Heady and Betsy Veldman for lots more sneak peeks at this month's new releases! And I hope you'll stop back by here....I've got lots more to show you! Can't wait!
