Hello there! It's time for Throwback Thursday at Papertrey Ink and I'm up this week along with Heather and Stephanie and today, we're showcasing one of my favorite oldie-but-goodie sets! This is the Bowl of Sunshine set by Lizzie Jones and it's one of those sets that is so fun to work with, I wish I'd designed it myself! :) It's super cute and clever and it gives you so many color-pairing options because of all the fun fruits and bowls! That Lizzie....she does good work!
For my card, I also pulled out the coordinating A Second Helping of Sunshine set because I knew I wanted to mix and match all of the fruits and bowls and create a colorful all-over pattern. I LOVE how this turned out! Goodness me, what a fun card to make!
Here are a few tips for you: When building an all-over pattern, start in the center and at the bottom of your card stock. This will ensure that your pattern is centered and evenly spaced. Also, when building a pattern using a variety of different stamps (such as the fruit you see here), be sure to add the fruit to each bowl, before moving on to the next row of bowls. This will ensure that you have enough space to stamp those fruit. If I'd stamped all of the bowls first and then added all the fruit, I might not have left enough room to add the fruit and have them spaced apart enough. And lastly, by stamping bowl-then fruit-then bowl-then fruit, it allows you to really get all of your colors spread out enough. I wanted the colors to be mixed well and I wanted the fruit color that I paired with each bowl, to be stamped in a pleasing combo. No red fruit in a red bowl....that sort of thing. And notice that the green fruits are not right next two each other. Nor are the two sets of lemons positioned close by on the card. By stamping each bowl followed immediately by it's fruit, it really allowed me to get all of my colors spaced just right.
The last thing I did was add the sentiment from Bowl of Sunshine before adding the whole panel to my card base. I had so much fun with this card....it really was one of those that was a joy to make. I hope I've inspired you to bust out these sets and put them to use yourself! Or if you don't have them already, maybe you should add them to your wish list! ;)
