Hey, friends! Happy FRIDAY!! Just popping in with a few of my new favorite things, particularly because I showed a picture in my Instagram Stories yesterday, with my new shoes in the picture a little bit, and I've been getting questions about them already! Haha! You guys have eagle eyes!
SHOES - Sanuk Yoga Gora Gora Duo in pink/red
Did you ever walk into a shoe store and see a pair of shoes that just stopped you in your tracks? Shoes that made your heart beat a little faster and you knew instantly that it was love at first sight?! Shoes that were so pretty that you didn't even care how uncomfortable they might be....but then you tried them on and much to your surprise, they were not only stylish but also comfortable, too?! (Let's face it, that last part is a rare find! Haha!) That's how it was with these shoes. I love them! Gah. Love. And just in case you're not a pink & red kinda girl like me, they also come in shades of turquoise as well as a black/gray combo!
PENS - Pentel Fude Touch Flexible Point Brush Tip Sign Pens
So, now that my system is getting used to these anti-rejection meds, my shaky hands have been far less shaky! So, I've been doing lots of hand-lettering of late, and recently got this pen in pink and I have to say that I LOVE it. Because of the flexible point, it gives you the ability to achieve "thicks" and "thins" in the lines of your lettering. I've been having all kinds of fun practicing and like I said, I currently only have the pink one but I've got my eye on the whole set. My birthday is Monday and I may have dropped a hint or two, to Bartley about wanting these. Heeheeeee!
PAPER - Strathmore Tracing Paper pad
If lettering is something YOU'D like to get better at, did you know there are all sorts of free practice sheets you can download from different sites on the internet? You can just google hand lettering practice sheets and all sorts of them will come up. Simply choose a style that suits you and print them out. THEN, so that you don't have to KEEP printing them out, but so you can still practice lots and lots, get yourself one of these tracing paper pads. Lay the tracing paper over the printed sheet and write on the tracing paper with the new brush pens I just told you about! They don't really recommend that you write on regular copy paper with your brush pens anyway, because copy paper is just rough enough that it will fray the tips of your pens. Anyway, this tracing paper is nice and smooth. I've been sitting in the evenings, in front of the TV with Bartley, writing and writing and writing....just practicing all different styles of lettering. It just helps to get your hands used to the motion of different styles, which will ultimately help you to develop your OWN style....because that's the goal, after all. Not to just copy, but to be your own, uniquely YOU! Anyway, I'm loving this paper with my new brush pen.
HEAT TOOL - Marvy Uchida Heat Tool
Ok, so I'm sure you can get this cheaper somewhere else, but I'm linking to it here, so you can at least see the exact one I have. And the reason I'm recommending it to you, is because after my paper crimper (HAHA!), this is literally the second paper crafting tool I ever bought. That means that mine is now like 11 or 12 years old maybe. And it still looks and works like brand new! It's still working perfectly for all my heat embossing needs, as well as my I'm-too-impatient-to-wait-so-I'll-just-speed-up-the-drying-process-with-my-heat-tool needs! Not that you would need it for that, of course. :)
BOOK - Grace Laced
Such a beautiful, inspiring book, just for the watercolor artwork alone. But add to that, short daily devotionals that take Scripture and apply it to our daily lives. This book is not only great to have for yourself, but also makes a really pretty and inspirational gift to give to others.
CHOCOLATE - Butterfinger Dark
Did you know they just started making Butterfinger candy bars with DARK chocolate?!! Everyone who knows Bartley and me well, will tell you that we are more dark chocolate kinda people, than milk chocolate. So anytime something fun like this comes out in a dark chocolate version, we're all over it to try it out. We watched and watched for these and finally found them here locally at our Walgreens, of all places! They're yummy!! I'm a Butterfinger fan anyway, but in dark chocolate, they're even better! Just thought I'd link them here, in case this might be right up your alley, too! Sorry that I could only link to a whole box of them. But there are worse things that having to buy a whole box of candy bars. Amiright? LOL!
All right, friends, I've gotta run but I hope you find something here to love! Let me know if you've found any new favorites yourself!
