Life is sweet! I can't think of a more fitting sentiment for how I feel about life in general these days!
Hey, friends....welcome back! So today marks the first time I get to bring you a Simple to Spectacular post for Papertrey. When the girls first told me about this new feature they were adding to the Papertrey line-up, sort of along the lines of a Make It Monday video I'd done back in 2012, I was in Washington, D.C., recovering from my transplant! But I was so looking forward to being able to play along once I got back home and settled! And what a fun idea for a regular feature for the whole team! So, here we are.....my first official Simple to Spectacular post! Hope you enjoy!
The stamp set for this month's Simple to Spectacular is The Sweet Life, and as you can see here, that's the only set I used to create this simple one layer card. I stamped all of the flowers first, followed by the sentiment and then filled in around everything with the leaves.
To get the colors I was after on the flowers, I stamped the first two layers of the 3-step stamps, with hibiscus burst ink. Love that tone-on-tone effect. And then added the top layer with orange zest ink.
For the second card, I stepped it up a notch by using the same basic layout, but did all the stamping on die-cuts this time. The flowers were all added with foam adhesive and the leaves were added with a regular adhesive and then I fluffed the tips forward for more dimension.
For the "spectacular" card (haha!), I added a die cut oval that I first stamped Cover Up: Grid on and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, before using Zig markers and a water brush to add color. I die cut it and popped the flowers and leaves on top, as well as some leaves peeking out from behind. Notice that the leaves are in three clusters, creating a visual triangle that keeps the eye moving around the card. And by having some of the leaves on top of the oval and some behind, you add an extra bit of visual interest.
