Ok, so truth be told, this post could be alternately titled "Use up your scraps to make a gorgeous set of fun bookmarks!" Haha! But we'll get to that in a minute...

Above is a shot of them altogether, just because they're so pretty all lined up in rows. Ha! But below, are some closer up shots, so you can see each one in a little more detail.
For the two on the left, you can see that it's the same bookmark but in different colors. I used a sentiment from New Every Morning and did some ink blending on the green/blue version for fun. I also used Corner Adorner: July and Orchid Expressions. For the one on the right, I die cut the newest Shape Shifters: Square 2 from vellum and layered it on the saffron spice bookmark. Um, LOVE. LOVE, love, love! Topping that one is a flower from Vintage Linens, a leaf from Grand Botanicals, tiny leaves from Stitching Garden and a double-layer leaf from Fruit Salad: Cherries (that is a super cute leaf for layering with flowers!).
For these two on the left, I used the Mix & Mat: Pretty Brackets die to create that awesome background. In the case of the one on the left, I die cut a piece of aqua mist card stock, trimmed off the sides and layered it on top of the saffron spice bookmark. However, for the one in the middle, I die cut the pattern directly out of the middle of the bookmark and layered a second solid bookmark in berry sorbet, behind the first! Either way works and both add sooo much interest! Oh, and for the record, I just used spray adhesive (link below, to the exact one I use, as well as the tweezers I have solely for holding onto things I'm spraying with adhesive) to make quick work of popping the layers together!
For the bookmark on the right, I had a piece of white card stock on my desk, that I'd stamped Cover Up: Grid on a couple months back, so I just die cut a bookmark from that and piled on the flowers and leaves!
Two more here, that I absolutely love.....look at what a perfect fit that Shape Shifters: Square 2 is when turned on the diagonal and layered on the Basic Bookmark 2 die!!!! And man, I don't think I could love that color combo any more....saffron spice and hawaiian shores have my heart! Top them with some pink and red orchids and I'm done for! Haha!
For the one on the right, I used the Mix & Mat: Plaid die to create the background layer and then piled on more flowers and leaves. Goodness, this was so. Dang. Fun! On the one hand, I need them in my books, but on the other hand, I kinda want to keep them all out and hang them in a frame on the wall or something, so I can just stare at those colors and details any time I want! They're pretty alone, but they're pretty striking all together! These would make a GREAT gift for someone! I'd recommend making two sets though, because it's gonna be awfully hard to give them away without having a set to keep for yourself!!! Haha!
Ok, so I also mentioned that I want them to inspire me spiritually. Of course, I don't think every bookmark has to have a sentiment or scripture or any word on it at all, for that matter. And honestly, that's why I was able to go crazy with the design on the front of the cards, because I wasn't trying to build around a sentiment. However, I DID want to include a Bible verse on the back. I can't tell you how often I might be having a frustrating moment or a situation in my life and in going about my day, I'll come across one of my bookmarks and the verse on the back might be just the one I needed to hear in that moment. So I just chose a few of my favorites from New Every Morning and A Cheerful Heart and stamped them on the backs. I stamped some duplicate verses because some of these may end up being gifts, but even if not, these are verses that speak to me and encourage me and I won't be sorry that I've added them to the backs of these beauties.
Have you ever made a pile of bookmarks? Have I given you just the nudge you needed to give this a try for yourself? It's super fun....the sky's the limit with these mini canvases that you can really dress up any way you want! And for Pete's sake, it feels so good to use up scraps!! Literally, take your pile of scrap card stock....die cut a bunch of bookmarks from it, and then pull out your pile of leftover die cut bits and build from there! If you decide to make some for yourself, I'd love to see! Share them here or tag me on instagram or twitter!
Oh, and one other tip for you.....these would also make REALLY fun gift tags! Just sayin'....
Have a great day, friends! And happy weekend!
