So, first of all, let me just say that I can't seem to stop with the scallops. I'd say I'm sorry but I'm really not sorry because good golly, you can use them on everything! GAH. Use them whole. Use one die or the other in each set. Cut them up and use just a strip of scallops. Chop off one end like I did here. So. Dang. Versatile. You may as well get used to seeing them on things because I can already tell you I won't be slowing down using them any time soon. Hahaha!
And here's a tip for you if you do buy these dies. Do what I did. When they come, just sit down and die cut a zillion of them in all different colors. Some with the scallop holes, some without. Some from watercolor card stock, some from patterned papers, some from regular card stock. I literally took my scrap pile from last month's card making frenzy and die cut scallop layers out of all those scraps! When you have a whole stack of them cut out, just watch how fast and easy your cards will come together, when you start out with some scallops as the main background on your card fronts. Truly. Mix and match the colors and the layers. You'll have a ton of fun and the cards will just about make themselves! Pile anything you want on them. Pair any kind of sentiments with them. Just have fun! I can tell you that I have. And I still have a gob of them already cut out and waiting to be used. Until you use them, just tuck them in the same storage with the dies. Or keep a few of them laying out on your work surface for easy card building when you get a minute here or there! They're a super great basic that you're probably gonna want to have out and handy. And bonus, scallops never go out of style. Love.
So as you can see, on this first card, I started with a saffron spice card base and used the Scallop Stackers: Large dies to cut out a piece of bitty dot vellum and then I positioned it vertically on the horizontal card base and trimmed off the top. I stamped two sentiments from the new Sentiment Staples: Thinking of You on the side of the card.
On top of the scallops, I added one of Betsy's new Shape Shifters: Square 2 die cuts and tucked a piece of berry sorbet card stock behind the gray layer. I topped the Shape Shifters layer with some florals from Botanical Bounty to finish things off. It's really a pretty simple card but has so much texture and interest because of those fun layers of detail!

Next up, you guessed it. More scallops. Told you....can't stop. :) So for these, I die cut the Scallop Stackers: Medium dies from watercolor card stock and then colored the scallops with my Zig markers and a water brush. So fun! I then die cut another scallop layer from white card stock, trimmed off the scallops and popped it on top of the watercolor layer. (I did this so the center would be bright white, since my watercolor card stock isn't a bright white, and also, so I could stamp the sentiments a lot easier, on regular card stock.) The sentiments are from Never Enough: Birthday, as well as one from Lizzie's new Kit N'Caboodle stamp set.
I stamped that cute kitty, also from Kit N'Caboodle, and popped it on a kraft Doily Details die cut. Don't tell Windsor McVey, but I'm calling this cat, "Kitty Kitty". Our neighbors have an older kitten that has taken to wandering over to our yard, our sidewalk, our porch, to just lay down and hang out. LOL. Win is not so much a fan of this current situation with Kitty Kitty (who's real name is actually Buddy). I started calling him Kitty Kitty (to Windsor), before I went out, picked him up and read his name tag. Now the name Kitty Kitty has kind of stuck! Haha. He's seriously the sweetest, friendliest little cat I've ever encountered. He flops on his back, right in front of me, just waiting for me (a stranger!) to scratch his belly. Anyway, I'm determined to make Windsor love Kitty Kitty because if Kitty Kitty ever decided to run away and live with....I don't know.....US, for instance......I wouldn't be sad about it. Hahaha! Anyway, hope you like my "Kitty Kitty" card!
