Hello there! I'm back with a Papertrey Design Team Tips project for you today! I've been loving all the amber bottles I've been seeing in home decor everywhere for Fall, lately, so I thought I'd be fun to create some little amber bottles for my paper-crafted projects! I'm so glad you've joined me today! I've got some tips for you on how I created these little gems....it's easier than you might think and I'm guessing you might already have some supplies on hand to create a similar project at your house, too!
To start off, I pulled out the Wicked Elixir die set. They're perfect for this type of project, because obviously, it's a whole collection of little bottles and even coordinating labels. Now, I didn't use the stamps on those labels, because they've got a spooky vibe to them, and spooky isn't what I was going for. I just wanted to recreate the look of pretty amber bottles with some lovely fall florals and pumpkins....exactly the things I'm loving in home decor at the moment!
If you don't have the Wicked Elixir die set, not to worry. Just look through your stamps or dies, for any type of vase or bottle shapes, that you could die cut or stamp in browns, to create this look.
I die cut each of the bottles from dark chocolate and cocoa bean card stocks as well as from clear card stock. I also cut labels out from rustic cream card stock, to give them an antique look. Next, I went around the edges of all of those die cuts -- the browns and the creams -- with some vintage touch tea dye ink, to distress everything even more. (If you don't have this ink, try using fine linen or kraft, softly.) This just adds to the vintage feel I was going for.
To assemble everything, I adhered a label to one of the clear bottles and then added more adhesive on the back side, behind the label only, to adhere the clear layer right on top of a brown layer. This allowed me to hide the adhesive, so it doesn't show through the clear card stock. (If you don't have these label dies, look for small tags or other tiny frame-like shapes that you could use for labels on your bottles!)
Next, I pulled out a sentiment I love from Give Thanks, and stamped that on my kraft card base. I also pulled out all kinds of fall die cut leftovers that have been floating around my desk, from previous crafting sessions, and piled them up on my card, around my bottle collection.
I love the look and can't wait to send this to a friend!
I did use one dark chocolate bottle, and all the rest are cocoa bean bottles.....I feel like the cocoa bean is a bit more like real amber bottles, but I loved adding in one bottle in the different color, just for a little variation.
TIP: Some of the leftover die cuts I had, were stamped on white card stock rather than cream. To make them all look cohesive, I just went around the edges of the bright white ones, with more vintage touch tea dye ink. This just tied everything together nicely.
As you can see here, when the bottles catch the light, they really shine, thanks to the layer of clear card stock. Such a fun look and one I'll have to remember to try again! I hope they've given you a bit of inspiration! What do you think? Is this something you'd like to try for yourself?
Hope you have a fabulous weekend, friends!
