Hi, Friends! Today is a fun day at Papertrey Ink! We're officially introducing the newest Make It Market kit, Fairy Tale Christmas, designed by Betsy Veldman! As in years past, there are two separate kits, one full of the essential tools (main kit - $99) and one with fun extras (trimmings kit - $37). You can find all the details about what's included in both kits, in the Fairy Tale Christmas post at the Papertrey blog. I've used elements from both kits for my projects today, and I'm excited to show you everything I've made! Several members of the Design Team have projects to share with you too, so let's dive right in!
My first project is a really quick and easy set of book gift tags! They're so darn cute in real life and the best part is how easy they are to put together. I used the two dies to cut out the front cover and back of the "book". I cut the front from patterned papers from the kit and cut the back from white card stock. I heat embossed a sentiment and frame on the front, with gold embossing powder.
Next up, I used the cute little holly cluster stamps, to create a pile of embellishments and popped one on the front of each tag.
I used one of the cute door-knocker style brads in the upper left corner of the tags and tied on a snippet of velvet ribbon from the kit, as well as some twine from my stash.
On the inside of each tag, I stamped another partial sentiment, to complete the sentiment that started on the front of each tag. And I also stamped a to/from on the inside.
Lastly, I added two more of the die cut clusters, and trimmed off the bottom and sides, leaving the top to stick up out of the book, just a bit, almost like a little floral bookmark.

Next up, I used some of the pre-printed items from the kit to create this adorable LIGHT UP ornament! Betsy thinks of everything with these kits, and I'm loving that you can use these supplies to create ornaments like I did here, or gift card or other small gift boxes. The sky's the limit.....there are really a ton of things you can do here! But back to my ornament.....I die cut an aqua mist box using the box die that is being sold separately (It's the same box die from the All Through the House kit, so if you got that one, then you've already got the die to create the base of this ornament.
Next, I die cut one of the pre-printed covers, as well as a little scene for inside the ornament, and one of the pre-printed sentiments, too. I die cut the pretty opening on the front of the ornament, and adhered a piece of clear card stock inside. I also tucked the little scene inside and added the sentiment with some foam adhesive. Now here comes the fun part....
I know this is a crazy photo, but this is what it looks like when it's lit up! I tucked the strand of lights inside the box, by punching a hole in the back of the box and stringing the lights through the hole. This way, the battery pack for the lights, is on the outside of the box, so when the batteries die, you can put more in!
I positioned the lights wire up along the top and sides of the box, while keeping the empty cord portion at the bottom of the box. The wire is bendable, so I curved it along the top of the box and put some scor-tape along the top and sides, and the stuck the wire to the scor-tape. Then, I dabbed some liquid adhesive here and there a long the light strand, so that once I added lots of fun sprinkle elements from the kit, some of them would stick to the glue and therefore, disguise the cord a bit.
As you can see along the bottom, the cord is tucked in and when all of the shaker filling settles, it hides the cord pretty well.
Here's a peek at the back of the box. I adhered the battery pack to the back with some scor-tape. You can see the little hole on the bottom right where the cord comes out, and the little black dot to the left of that, is the on/off switch for the lights.

Ok, so this might be the most fun background I've ever made for a card! Some fun items that are sold separately that coordinate with the kit are some stencils, and I used two of them here, as well as some really fun gold, Nuvo embellishment mousse! I'd never used this stuff before, but it was easy breezy to work with and dries like a dream! Look at that shine!!!
I used the tree stencil on some hawaiian shores card stock, and blended on some new leaf ink. That alone created a really beautiful background, but I didn't stop there! Next, I used the snowflake stencil and the Nuvo mousse, and just blended it on with an ink blending tool. It fills in the openings on the stencil, and adds a bit of raised texture to the paper. SO fun! I set it aside to let it dry before I moved on, but it didn't take too long at all!
Next, I took one of the circle dies from the kit and cut out the center of the panel, as well as a little strip of white card stock. I stamped the sentiment elements on the strip and a die cut piece, and popped it all on the card front.
I then added a few pre-printed die cuts -- the little girl and deer, as well as a holly cluster. And lastly, how cute is that little 3-D mushroom?! Obviously you can use those in your box ornaments and such, but I couldn't resist adding one here, with a little liquid glue! Gah! Adorable!

Ok, one more for you, because I couldn't stop! ;) I used the other set of three stencils on this one.
I used the berry stencil with some pure poppy ink, and the holly leaves stencil with green parakeet, followed by some new leaf ink on the inner half of the leaves. Next, I used the gold Nuvo mousse with the frame stencil, to add the shiny portion.
Then, I die cut one of the green striped patterned papers with a pair of frame dies from the kit, and die cut the aqua patterned paper and stamped the sentiments on it, before tucking it in the frame opening.
I topped the frame with a few more die cut and stamped holly clusters. I love those things. There are some pre-printed in the kit, as you saw above, but the nice thing is that you can recreate with stamps, nearly all of the pre-printed elements in the kit. Lots of options!
All right, I'm off for now, but I'll be back with one more project for you featuring the kit tomorrow, because I made a fun little discovery that I want to show you! I hope you'll stop back by!
