Hi, Friends! It's time for the Papertrey September Countdown which also means that it's time to kick off the season of holiday crafting and I LOVE it! Especially after missing so much of the Christmas season last year, while I was recovering from my transplant in D.C., I've been so enjoying all of the holiday crafting I've gotten to do this past week! I'm excited to show you what all I've been up to! I've also got several new products coming out this month, that I hope you're going to love as much as I do! Let's dig right in, shall we?
All of the new products you're getting peeks at this week will be available for purchase at Papertrey Ink beginning on September 15 at 10pm EST.

So the first thing I want to tell you about is a new collection of products called Sweet Stitching! There's a really fun background & frame building stamp set, as well as a cover plate, all by the same name. The above photo shows you what the cover plate looks like, as well as just a FEW of the patterns you can create with the stamp set!
As you can see in the photo, the top two panels have a frame stamped on them, similar to the design of the cover plate. I took the largest stamp in the set, and literally just stamped it two times, flipping it upside down for the second impression, to create the frame. The hawaiian shores layer was stamped, I think four times, to create the pattern with the open "circles" and the hawaiian shores layer was stamped the same, with pure poppy ink. However, I added to that one, with some of the smaller pattern-building images from the set, stamping an additional stitched diamond in hibiscus burst ink inside each of the "circles", followed by a little stitched cluster inside of each of those, with autumn rose ink.
You can also take the largest stamp in the set, and by rotating it around, can stamp it a total of ten times to completely fill in the entire sheet OR, you can create a TON of different patterns like the one I did here, on saffron spice card stock, just by using a variety of small images in the set to create your own patterns. For that one, I used three small stamps.....the stitched diamond shape, the thin diamond in cocoa bean and the little stitched x's in dark chocolate. Like I said, there are literally a TON of patterns and color combinations you can create with this set, and of course, this one can be used on all your holiday projects if you'd like, but obviously this one can work alllllll year long, too! Bonus!!
For this one, I paired Sweet Stitching with the new Merry Mug stamps and dies by Lizzie Jones! Dang, that's a cute little cup and pile of whipped cream! Haha! I loved using it to create this darling Christmas card!
I paired it with a couple of sentiments from the new Sentiment Staples: Christmas, also by Lizzie.

For this one, I paired Sweet Stitching with another new product I have coming out this month -- the Say It Simple: You & Yours die! So far, you all have seemed to really like the ease of these Say It Simply dies, so I'm happy to be bringing you two more options this month.....we'll talk about this one today and then you'll see the other later in the week, so stay tuned for that.
I stacked up four die cuts here, and just like I told you last month, I used spray adhesive and a pair of tweezers just for holding onto the items I'm spraying, to make really quick work of stacking these four die cuts up and popping them on the card front. I hold the die cuts over a card board box to spray and just hit them really quickly with a light coat of the spray adhesive. It's very fast and has totally taken the hassle out of really detailed die cuts for me!
I'm also a firm believer that you can totally take some of your florals from throughout the year, and by pairing them with some berries and holiday greenery, can use them on Christmas cards! That's what I did here, by mixing some Farmer's Market Florals rose images with some Holiday Greens images.

Next up, I wanted to show you a really fun way to use the new Sweet Stitching Cover Plate! Firstly, let me tell you that the lines on this cover plate are thinner than some of the previous releases, which gives you quite a few more design options! If you run this cover plate through your die cutting machine with a regular CUTTING sandwich, those diamonds will cut out! This means, you can pop them back in, with different colors of card stock, you can leave them open and stamp on the layer behind the die cut panel, or you can even use the die cut piece as a stencil, which you could then stamp on after stenciling!
If you want to use this as a cover plate as I've done here, just use it with the tan & vanilla rubber mats and you'll get a pretty, detailed impression. For this piece, I used a piece of watercolor card stock because it's nice and squishy, so I got a really deep impression, and then I took a dry brush and a bit of Martha Stewart metallic acrylic paint in Champagne and brushed it over the whole thing lightly. I wanted the brush strokes to show and I really wanted the impressed portions to stay mostly untouched, so I used a really light hand with the paint! I LOVE the look that was achieved, and gosh, this is a really pretty paint color besides. It's somewhere in between a silver and a gold.....just perfect for a holiday card! Oh, and just so you know, it also dried really quickly. I painted it, popped downstairs for dinner and when I got back upstairs, it was totally dry.
I used a Say It Simply: You & Yours die cut on top, as well as some holly & berries from Spruce & Sprigs and I layered the whole thing on a Scalloped Stackers: Small die cut.

Ok, and lest you think you can only use that cute little Merry Mug for holiday projects, think again! That foamy coffee totally reminds me of the foamy coffee I make here at home every day, so I paired Merry Mug here with some Farmer's Market Florals and the Sweet Stitching stamps, to create a really sweet year-round card that I just love! To create the soft color on the foam (to look like my actual foam!), I used fine linen ink and just lightly sponged it on the stamp before stamping with my MISTI, which allowed me to repeat the process two or three times, until I got the color I was happy with. I only added the ink along the top edges of the foam, so that the bottom and center still stayed white.
I used Olive Twist ink for the leaves, but wanted them to be much lighter, so I stamped them off first, before stamping them on my die cuts.
All right, I'm off for now, but be sure to check out the Papertrey Blog for lots more inspiration featuring this month's new releases!
Thanks for dropping in! Let's do this again tomorrow, yes?
