So, here are the two cards together.....very different, but with the same layout. You can read all about the first card here. If I'd had more time, I was thinking how fun it'd be to take this same card and make it again, in a completely masculine style. And also, maybe a kid birthday card, or even a sympathy card, etc. Would have been fun to recreate the same card for several different occasions, swapping out colors, images and sentiments as needed to suit each theme. It's a great way to get a bunch of cards made, without getting bored, while still keeping things fairly easy to reproduce without a ton of thought!
So for my Christmas version, I used a couple sentiments from Sentiment Staples: Christmas. I used the same bitty dot vellum, and the same Scallop Stackers: Large die....I just trimmed off the top of the die cut. I also used the same Shape Shifters: Square 2 dies -- gosh, I love that one -- and just swapped out my colors. I again went with kind of unexpected colors for that layer, to add a fun and interesting pop of color between the card base and the focal flowers, this time using Olive Twist and Tropical Teal.
As for the flowers, I paired the blooms from Blooming Amaryllis with my holly leaves from Spruce & Sprigs. I die cut the flowers from white card stock and skipped stamping the solid images, allowing some of the white to show thru. I just added the large detail images in hibiscus burst and pure poppy, following up with raspberry fizz centers and scarlet jewel on the tips of the stamens. Next, I pulled out the Nuvo gold embossing mousse and an ink blending tool, and swiped some all around the edges. When you're just doing a really light brushing of the mousse, it dries pretty quickly.
Then, for those leaves (my favorite part -- gah!), I stamped them in tropical teal and olive twist (same colors as the Shape Shifters layers) using an ink blending tool to soften the blend between those two colors. Then, I did the same thing with the gold embossing mousse, only this time, I followed that up by swiping a glue pad around the edges, too, and then I sprinkled on some martha stewart glitter! Good grief, I love how those turned out! Total show-stoppers in real life! After adhering everything to the card front, I added some older Prima adhesive gems from my stash.
