Ok, so it's a good thing the littles in our life don't read my blog because some of them will be getting some of these goodies for upcoming birthdays and Christmas! Ha! Also thankfully, their mamas know how to keep a secret! Lol!
One thing I'm always, always a fan of buying for little ones is art supplies. Perhaps it's because I'm reliving my childhood a little bit and that's the main thing I wanted for every birthday and Christmas. But also, I just love encouraging their creativity and I feel like giving them some "tools" to work with is a great way to do that. So....this is some of what is currently here waiting to be wrapped up for some special littles this year.
1. How to Draw Animals - This and the book below are for two different littles, but they live in the same house, so I think they'll be able to swap them back and forth and both of them will get some use out of them. It's just that one little is more at the crayon/colored pencil stage, and one is a tiny bit more into the marker stage, but either way, these books should work well for them!
2. How to Draw Cars & Trucks and Other Vehicles
3. Melissa & Doug Drawing Pad - I got a couple of these drawing pads to go along with the drawing books and I think they're gonna love them. And of course, if you have paper and drawing books, you need something to draw WITH, right?.....enter these next two items!
4. Crayola 100ct Supertip Washable Markers - One thing to note about these, is that they came with a bonus pack of 12 additional 'wedge' markers. These aren't something I would have bought but I certainly don't mind an freebie thrown in!
5. Crayola 100ct Colored Pencils - The same thing can be said about these pencils....they also came with a freebie box of 16 color fx pencils. Bonus! So like I mentioned above, we've got a pair of littles in the same household, who will each get one of the drawing books, a drawing pad, and either the markers or the colored pencils, depending on their age.
6. Crayola Masterworks Art Kit 200+ Pieces - This would have been my dream when I was little! A whole huge array of crafty supplies! It all comes in a nice sturdy carrying case, too! This is for yet another little in our family. We have a lot, in case you didn't know! Haha!
7. Skee Ball Game - So this one is one a certain little man's wish list and as soon as I saw it in the "catalog" he showed me, I knew this was what I wanted to get him! We LOVED the real deal skee ball growing up, so I can't resist getting this throwback game for him! I just hope he lets me play! Haha!
8. Nancy Drew Books Starter Set (Books 1-10) - One of my sisters has seven littles, ages 10 and under. We try to think of fun and creative gift ideas for them, since they're out of town and we don't get to see them for Christmas. So this year, we're all (my parents and other siblings and their families) chipping in to get the seven littles a "Book Bonanza Box"! Yes, I made that name up. Haha. But basically, they love to read and specifically, the older ones in particular, like to read old books like the ones I read when I was a kid. SO, we have gotten them a huge collection of a variety of old-school books in various series. Bart and I have gotten a few of them out antiquing, but we got the bulk of them on eBay and I can't wait for them to open that Book Bonanza Box because I think they're gonna go crazy with so many books to sort through and swap back and forth! Books like these are ones that they'll eventually all get some use out of whether they're the ones reading or being read to.
Anyway, did you know that you can buy NEW copies of some of these "vintage" book series that we bought the vintage versions of?! Here's a Nancy Drew set.
9. Hardy Boys Books Starter Set (Books 1-5) - And here are some Hardy Boys!
10. Happy Hollisters (Book #17) - We also got them a stack of Happy Hollisters books. Seriously, how cute is the cover of this one?!
11. Trixie Belden (Book #8) - I totally read these when I was a kid. Heck, I read all of these series when I was a kid! Haha!
Of course, buying originals of these old-school books means a little leg-work to either find them in antique stores or on eBay, but the benefit is that you know the stories are clean and safe and appropriate for kiddos to read. I'm all in favor of that! And if you can buy new copies of those old titles, even better! We also got them Bobbsey Twins books and a big stack of Little Golden Books for the littler ones. It's been fun to put together and I can't wait till they all get here (they're in transit even now!).
12. Girls Glitter Ankle Boots - I don't know if you saw on my Instagram that a week or so ago, Benji and Emmy (nephew & niece) came to stay with us for most of a week. Of course that meant multiple trips to Target, as I do with all the littles who come stay with us! Haha. We go get a popcorn and walk up and down allllllll the toy aisles (usually many times) and often, the clothes and shoes sections, too. So Miss Em likes her shoes. Haha! We went up and down the kiddos shoe section and she wanted alllll the boots! (Or maybe I wanted allllll the boots for her. I forget.) Anyway, after much deliberation, these ended up being our favorites. However in the end, she opted for a toy and a little outfit instead. But these were our favorite, in case you know a tiny girl who might need some sparkly boots!
13. Santa Pajama Set - Oh, and we also came home with what might be the cutest Christmas jammies in all the land. They're pink and red!!
