Hello, Friends!
I'm thrilled to be a guest designer at Taylored Expressions today, as I get to help introduce some new products being released that were designed by my dear friend, Heather Nichols! Heather and I worked together for more than ten years, so when they asked if I'd want to help promote her new product launch, I didn't even have to think about saying yes! Heather is not only a very talented designer, but she's a friend of the best sort -- one who willingly sets aside her own needs, in order to help those around her. I've experienced this first-hand in the past, as we worked together all of the years that I was so sick, and then recovering from a transplant. She's blessed me more times than I can count, and I love her dearly. It is with great joy that I created with her new products and share those creations with you today!
So, on this first card, I started out by creating that fun background! I used the Feathered 6x6 designer stencil and three Taylored Expressions inks....Cookie Monster, Peapod, and Dijon. I just used ink blending tools to rub the ink onto the card stock, over the stencil.
Creating the background was so fast and easy, thanks to these really pretty - and juicy! - TE ink pads!
Next, I used the Simply Stamped-Feathers stamp set and coordinating dies, to stamp the feathers. These stamps are red rubber stamps, so I just used my misti to stamp everything first, and then die cut all the feathers, since the dies are open and you can easily see where to line them up.
I stamped a sentiment from Heather's Wild and Free stamp set (also red rubber) on the card base, and finished the card off with a couple strips of solid colored card stock.
Let me interject that Taylor also sent me some of their inks to play with and goodness, what a treat it was to try out and mix & match some different colors! What a thrill!! It makes me think I really do need to branch out and find some new inks to love! What ones are your favorites? And what do you love about them?
I have to say that these inks stamp beautifully and the colors are so rich and vibrant! This Plum Punch and Dijon in particular, were a joy to stamp with, because when you stamp them at half strength (so, stamp it off once first), you get softer but still really vibrant lighter tones of the same colors. SO pretty!!
The dots on the background are from Simply Stamped-Feathers, and like I said, I stamped each dot off on scratch paper once, before stamping it on the white card stock panel.
I stamped the scripture from Wild and Free in the same Plum Punch ink, but at full strength. For the feathers, I used a combination of colors....plum punch, dijon, lollipop and fruit punch.
Another fun bit of Dawn & Taylor trivia is that I met Taylor (owner of Taylored Expressions) yeeeeears ago at a CHA that we both attended during the month or so that we both worked for Papertrey! Her last month there was one of my first, so we ate at a company dinner together ten or eleven years ago! Talk about a full circle moment, to be guest designing for her company now! Don't you love how the Lord works things like that out sometimes?! Taylor is a gem herself and has just been the sweetest to work with. I hope you'll check out all of the new products from this release at Taylored Expressions!
Thanks so much for having me, Taylor and Heather!! Congrats on this fun new collection of products! And thanks so much to you, dear readers, for spending a bit of your day with me!
