Hello, Friends!
I've got a fun post for you today that includes lots of Bible journaling as well as some card making with some new products from Illustrated Faith! Let's start off with the Bible journaling first, shall we? The sweet folks at Illustrated Faith sent me some of the products from their new Revival Camp collection, as well as a few floral items that were previously released, and I really enjoyed pairing the two groups of products together.
For this first page, I secured a piece of alcohol ink artwork to the page with a piece of the washi tape from the kit, and tucked a few of their acetate flowers under the washi. I love those flowers! They're so fun to layer over all sorts of things! I added the "all to HIM" sticker from the kit, as well as a couple other stickers beneath that. I also stamped several of the travel stamps and then added a bit of handwriting to finish things off. I love that there are a couple of stamps in that set, that make it really easy to add the date to your page. I think it's fun to flip back through all the artwork that I'm accumulating in my Illustrating Bible, and see the dates that I completed the different pages.
For this next one, I used that fun floral stamp, and did some ink blending to add some pops of color for the flowers and leaves. Flanking that stamped image, I added a couple more of those acetate florals, as well as a tag from the ephemera kit.
That ink is one from Altenew called Moon Rock, and I love the contrast of it with the dark black on the acetate florals. I think it adds a bit more texture and interest.
On the tag, I used a couple of the stamps from the Wild[flower] stamp set, to stamp "prayer" and "heart" and then added my writing, to complete the sentences.
More stamps, stickers, acetate florals and ephemera bits finished this one off. I love all those different layered bits and bobs.
I got a bit more scrappy on this one. I started with another strip of my alcohol ink art as well as a strip of turquoise fabric that was tied around my package of goodies when they arrived. I stitched some ruffles up on my sewing machine, and then used some scor-tape to adhere the whole thing to the back of the artwork, and used some washi from my stash, to adhere it to the Bible page. I only stuck it down at the top, though, so I could flip it up and tuck some journaling underneath.
The floral card I did my journaling on, was some of the packaging from the kit. I just wrote on it and used another strip of washi to stick it in my Bible, also creating a card that can be flipped up. I added an acetate "love" on top of a little paper tag from the ephemera kit, as well as a couple other pre-printed items at the top of the page, including the cute fold-over sticky tab. TIP: I just used liquid glue to adhere those acetate pieces. It dries clear so you can't see the glue through the acetate. Lastly, I stamped the little leaves up top.
Under the bottom tag, I added a couple other stickers and a stamped date box, where I wrote in the date.
Part of what you get in the kit, is a small devotional. I loved what the author, Brianna, said in the first devotional in the booklet, about wondering if it was "God's mercy, sparing Noah the task of shutting the door on his community, even if they had scoffed at him", when God closed the door on the ark. I hadn't ever considered that before, and wanted to underline that particular verse and highlight that thought with the journaling I added to the page.
I started out by adding a light wash to the page, with a few favorite acrylic paints. When the paint was dry, I added my handwriting, as well as the stamped circle at the bottom, and the sticker tab, too. I stamped the large floral image on some watercolor card stock and painted that, before fussy-cutting it and adding it to the page, with a scrap of that same fabric from before, and another paper tab. I also added a few more acetate floral bits here and there. A tiny one at the bottom, and three more above the watercolored flowers.
Ok, so with all kinds of goodies still floating around my desk, I decided to whip up a few quick note cards, too! I loved some of those travel elements too much to not pop them on something, since I hadn't used them in my Bible!
For the base here, I used the Dotted Lattice embossing folder from Taylored Expressions (linked below), and then piled on lots of ephemera from the Revival Camp kit, as well as some more of those lovely acetate flowers. I think I could put those on just about anything! I love the softness and touch of elegance they add to an otherwise playful card!
On this one, a bit more Dotted Lattice, some more alcohol ink art, and another of those delicious florals. I added a strip of skinny washi from my stash, but I linked a similar Illustrated Faith set below.
One more.....this one includes many of the same elements I used in other ways on previous cards and pages, including more of that scrap fabric strip, sewn into a fun ruffle. Oh, and in this case, I used the embossed card stock upside down, so that it's debossed instead!
You can see lots more Bible journaling products from Illustrated Faith here, or you can visit the Illustrated Faith website. There are so many fun and inspiring things that you might want either for yourself or as gifts for others.
One thing I'll say about Bible journaling is that I hear from a lot of you that seem to want to dive in to Bible journaling but haven't because one thing or another has held you back. I just feel like Bible journaling is an extension of my craft time, that is something I get to do just for me. It doesn't matter if the artwork is perfect or if my handwriting is perfect or if things aren't 'just right' from anyone else's standpoint. Bible journaling, for me, is a chance to spend some time creating while also spending some time in God's Word, and in my mind....that's always time well spent.
Hope that encourages you, if you've been thinking about jumping in!
Much love, friends! Have a great weekend!
