Hey, Friends!
Good morning! In case you haven't seen yet on social media everywhere, the gorgeous blender brushes that everyone is raving about from Taylored Expressions are available for preorder again! I've got another card to share with you today, to hopefully give you some inspiration whether you've got your own set of blender brushes already, or you've been thinking about ordering a set now that you can again!
For this card, I used the blender brushes to create my own plaid patterned paper and it was easy! All I had to do was use some washi to mask off some stripes, and then I blended ink on the stripes between the strips of washi! Then, I'd pull off the washi, lay down more washi to create new stripes in the opposite direction, and blend on more ink. That's literally it....you're just using washi to create your own stripe masks! You can have so much fun blending and mixing and layering colors and all you need are these fabulous blender brushes and any old washi you have on hand!
PRO TIP: Remember to vary the width of your stripes when you change directions, to make authentic-looking plaid. When laying down your first layer of washi, make all of the stripes the same width for your first color. Then, when you change the direction of the washi stripes for the next layer of color, vary the width of your stripes to be different from your previous layer. Rotate again, vary the width again, and change the color again. Repeat this over and over, until you're happy with your plaid.
Behind the plaid panel, I added a piece of white card stock that I used the dotted lattice embossing folder on.
PRO TIP: Notice that my embossing is actually debossing, meaning it's backwards! If you mess up your blending or don't like how a certain color combo is working out, turn that piece of card stock over and try again, or do as I did here and emboss it and use it as a layer behind a layer!
For the focal point, I stamped some feathers and dots from Simply Stamped-Feathers and fussy cut them, and then did the same with this sentiment from the Wild and Free stamp set.
PRO TIP: Do yourself a favor and sit and blend some plaid papers while you're watching TV with the family some night. You'll have a little fun while you're mindlessly crafting, and down the road when you get a minute to sit and make a card, you'll have a sweet little stack of plaids ready to be used however you'd like!
All right friends, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!
I hope I've encouraged you to check out these cutie-patootie new blender brushes! I know I've gushed about these brushes since I received them, but they've literally changed the way I craft, because they've made blending so darn fast and easy! I love that! They definitely get my vote as best new stamping tool around!
Hope you have the best day, friends!
much love,
